I'm assuming we want a loan with option to buy but Reims just wants us to buy. Looking at other tweets, Reims want €10m , unless we have other players in the pipeline, I would just pay the €10m instead of signing no one

i am assuming we want a loan because we arent too sure we want to buy him!! (which doesnt fill me with confidence)

Somewhere over there...
‘Loan to buy’ is virtually the same as ‘buy’.

Perhaps we just want a loan and are waiting for January to see if Andone recovers and the Edouard price comes down before we shake a permanent Striker signing?

I probably should've been clearer by saying they probably want us to either Buy or loan with obligation to buy, but we want to loan with option to buy (with no obligation)

I think the problem with Édouard is that if his prices goes down in January, more clubs will be interested and less likely to join us.

Owen says no.

Of course he does.

Reporter (to the Albion PR): Are you looking to sign Dia?

Albion PR: No

Reporter: OK then. Cheers.

The club plays things very close to their chests. So if they are working on something behind the scenes, the last thing they want is for any inkling of it whatsoever becoming public. The likes of Owen and Naylor have to ask the question and report back on what is said. The sources might be well-placed, but they are still often not going to give anything away – especially if it's a crucial time in the negotiations.

So basically I take it all with a pinch of salt.

Reims are winless in 6 league matches, 19th out of 20 in the table and Dia has scored 60% of their goals. It's the French equivalent of Fulham selling Mitrovic.

I think it must be really hard for Naylor these days. Club holds everything so close to the chest and seems to only use the media to pour cold water on everything.

Agree. Also, his contacts are probably all at football league clubs and we don't do so much business with them these days.

Yep. Must be tough actually speaking to sources who you can trust who tell you whether transfers, loans or contracts are actually happening. And working for a well paid start up investing in football journalism instead of lots of other outlets relying on guesswork or speculation must be awful !!
Also do club keep things close to their chest ? The Polish duo was reported 24 hours ago by local press. Naylor had Gyokeres, Cochrane and Sanders off on loan as a story last week. They pour water on a lot of stuff because lets face it, its made up.

I can't work out the point you're making here. You appear to be defending Andy Naylor, but then also admit he was pretty late on the Polish news, only reporting it 24 hours later.

Almost all info that leaks to journalists these days come from agents. Its the case in basically every club. A few times you get something from a selling club that wants to raise the value of their players, but 99% of all info comes from agents. I doubt Naylor etc got any sources inside the club, not many people are willing to risk their job to get some journalist some transfer talk.

Yes and no – it depends what sort of outlet he's working for and what type of stories they deal in. Obviously the main newspapers and sport-focused TV and radio stations are all about the sensationalist headlines and trying to find SCOOPS, but (from the little I've seen), The Athletic, for example, has more in-depth stories about established players, analysis of games and peripheral factors to who is signing for whom.

He has to be seen (especially on social media) to be meeting the demands of his followers, many of whom simply want to know who is on their way in (or out of the club), but that part of his job is merely paying lip service and promoting the title he's working for. The tweet(s) about interest in Lamptey from Munich (or whichever German club it was) was posted with a link to his story about Lamptey the player – the fact that there was a rumour attached to it, just gave him a reason to push the article and look for subscribers.

Mercato: Boulaye Dia could stay at the Stade de Reims according to his agent, conditions "hard to achieve"

Announced on the departure of the Stade de Reims, the 23-year-old striker is on track to stay in Ligue 1. According to his agent, the conditions set by the club are hard to achieve.

A situation understandable by Frederic Guerra, agent of Boulaye Dia, who explains that given his statistics "It is difficult for Boulaye Dia to have an agreement from Reims because he is their flagship player. He made 4 and a half games, 3 goals and an assist. It's complicated for them to let go of such a player. They do not have an internal replacement or an idea of the person to replace him ” explained his agent at the microphone of Telefoot.
