The great thing about Italiand and British football is that it either tends to be complete success or complete failure.
There's Zola and Chelsea but then there's always Lombardo and Palace. Di Canio was a big hit with Sheff Wed and West Ham, but who could forget Massimo Taibi at Man Utd?
My favourite is Marco Negri of Rangers. He started his career there - 1997/98 - with an amazing 23 goals in 10 matches, finished with 32 for the season but got an eye injury from a squash match and then got a calf injury from a flesh-eating bug. After that 11 goals in 33 match over the next 7 years before he retired.

The more characters in the game the better in my opinion. Bring it on - him and his blackshirts will whip those 'Town' boys into shape in no time and they'll be marching acoss the home counties looting and burning, creating more Lebensraum for the planned expansion of Wiltshire.

OMG - surely not ... I have to say that if anything would test my loyalty to the team I've supported my entire life (and I never even remotely imagined it could) then making an appointment like this would. I can't think of many more distasteful people - "character" No!

The bloke is my f***ing hero...for his football not political beliefs i must add. He was worth the admission price alone. he will....hopefully, end up at the hammers where he will be given legend status along with Moore, Brooking, Bonds, Devonshire et al

Supporters of League Two football club Swindon Town have begun keenly studying the Fascist ideology after reports that Paolo Di Canio is in talks to become their new manager.
The former Lazio striker and self-proclaimed fascista is set to have talks with Swindon chairman Jeremy Wray as the recently relegated side plan a return to League One at the first attempt.
A number of candidates for the vacant position have been touted, but the prospect of the hot-headed Italian inhabiting the dugout at the County Ground next season has been greeted with excitement by some fans.
“We could take on Di Canio and give the team strong leadership, singular collective identity, and the will and ability to commit violence and wage war in order to keep the club strong, or we could hire Jim Magilton. It’s a no-brainer!” said one enthusiastic season ticket holder.
“Let’s be honest, I think we’d all take a little authoritarian indoctrination in order to secure League One football.”

Another fan told us, “I’ve read a bit about fascism, and I was particularly interested in the stuff about eugenics.”
“If Paolo can improve the genetic composition of the youth squad then that can only benefit us in the long term.”
Other fans of the club have expressed mixed emotions over the possible acquisition, with one telling us “Every time I think of a positive point about him joining us it always ends with ‘but he’s a fascist’.”
“It’s like if your son came home to tell you he’d joined the Ku Klux Klan – you’d hate it, but at the same time you have no choice but to still love him – it’s much the same with Paolo.”
