Yep still boycotting it. When the kids mum wanted to go to Toys R Us, I got in the car and drove to Southampton.

I'll drive past it, but won't go in. ********. I especially hate DFS for sending me their opening offer which I ripped up and sent back to them with a very pointed letter.

Don't care anymore. We've never had it so good. Don't go there but that's because I'm never over that way, not for any other reason. Hold a grudge against the people that sold the land, not the people that bought it.

I never went to the Goldstone so don't share the same feelings about the place. I think I was a STH at Withdean when a friend explained to me that Burger King was on the site of Brighton's old stadium....

I have been back since the Amex was built and I bought my sofa in 2014 from DFS

Never have, and doubt I ever will, although I don't live in Brighton so doubt I'll ever have the need. Same as others though, never been to Focus or Wickes

I swore I'd never go in the place and never have, never will. I also signed the "Ban the Bun" petition meaning I pledged never to step foot in a Forfars bakers. They have now gone, but I never went in to any of their shops, even when they rebranded themselves as "Fresh".

Many of us pledged never to set foot in the Retail Park, and at the time we all meant it too, but over twenty years on, and things have changed massively, and for the better too, Archer, and Bellotti, (in his case quite lierally), have long gone. I don't live in the area so have no reason to visit it, but perhaps, now the Albion is safe, in reliable hands, and playing it's football at the fantastic new American Express Community Stadium, l might just cross the threshold if l lived nearby.

Times change, we did what we needed to do at the time, but it's time we all moved on. Come to think of it, without the sale of the Goldstone where would we be playing today? probably not at the Amex!

I wouldn't buy any furniture from DFS if they weren't at the Goldstone ground. I did go into ToyRUs when they were there.

I went to the unveiling of the Heritage Board on the corner of Hove Park, opposite, on the day of our opening Championship tie against Doncaster. One side describes the park and the Gold stone, and the other is all about Brighton & Hove Albion. Nsc helped contribute towards the board. Dick Knight unveiled it.

I'd be interested to see what the age of the boycotters is. I'd doubt many of our younger fans give a toss*, for them it's a bit like people droning on about the Blitz or Rationing.


*Although I'm sure some hardline boycotters will have passed the obsession on.

Whilst I blacklisted it for a long time, it was nigh on impossible not to drive past it for work and family.
My stance has softened over the years and to be honest I now quite like it that the space where we stood is accessible - it’s not an office block. My great grandfather played there around the season it opened in the first season with the stripes, so it was nice to have the family connection with the Goldstone throughout its history.
You could argue in retrospect that they did us favour, although the way they went about it probably reduced the lifespan of many of us who went through the bad times both on and off the pitch.
I miss the Goldstone and feel for those supporters who never experienced it. We now live in different times. I’m a traditionalist and liked the smelly toilets, Fred the Argus, the supporters club guy taking the lottery numbers round on his board, the club shop (hut) that sold only badges, and the numbers boards leaning up against the wall at half time. Swapping ends at half time and standing wherever you wanted with your mates. All with not an I-phone in sight. Happy days.

Go to the Goldstone Retail Park? That would be weird ... never doing it. Neither are my family and I don't enforce many rules at home.

The main reason, the way I see it, is that the prevent the deal going through at the time I and many others wrote to the local press and the OP's fine publication swearing never to spend any money or even set foot there. The idea being that the prospect of widespread local resentment would decrease the chances of the deal going through and we would have a better chance of keeping the Goldstone (yes a long shot I know, but don't you remember what those feelings of desperation were like?). So I could welch on that promise now that we're doing well, but that would make me a bit of a ****. I value having some sense of integrity more than I value a slightly cheaper packet of dog food.

I'd wager most of them have absolutely no idea what was there before. Neither would half of the people at the Amex on a matchday.

Never hold a grudge, life really is too short, the people involved have had their comeuppance anyway, and as you say we have never had it so good, so really no point anymore. In a perverse kind of way maybe Archer and his entourage did us all a favour by selling the Goldstone, would we playing a the Amex now? I very much doubt it.

We almost certainly wouldn't be playing at the Amex. All's well that ends well. It was worth it in the long run.

Would never shop at DFS as they ripped the now Mrs W off with PPI before I met her ( she did get a good payout though ). Have to admit I did pop Toys'R'Us a few times but that was it.

There's nothing worthing going to there now.

Personally I put more effort into boycotting the Lib Dems than the Goldstone. Shamefully there are people on NSC who have either forgotten or forgiven their awful behaviour.
