For me it would have been Rui Costa for Portugal at Euro 2000, who hit a 60 yard low ball into the inside right channel from his own half, with BACKSPIN!

Any thoughts?

I can't think of one, but it would have come from the feet of Tommy Huddlestone.

I thought he was struggling to get a game at the minute PD?

He is, espically since we bought Palacios, but he is one of the best passers of the ball I have ever seen.

Reyes' defence-splitting diagonal pass for Henry from 75 yards in the 5-3 win against Middlesbrough 2004-5 was pretty special. It was perfectly weighted for Henry to lift over the goalkeeper.

You mentioning Arsenal reminds me of the Dutch game at France 98 when someone knocked in a another 75 yard ball from the left onto Berkamp's toe on the right of the six yard box, which he controlled and fired in for a 3-2 I think? It won BBC Goal of the World Cup

The most curious thing..
One of these...

The ball is:
• spherical
• made of leather or other suitable material
• of a circumference of not more than 70 cm (28 ins) and not less than 68 cm (27 ins)
• not more than 450 g (16 oz) and not less than 410 g (14 oz) in weight at the start of the match
• of a pressure equal to 0.6 – 1.1 atmosphere (600 – 1,100 g/cm2) at sea level (8.5 lbs/sq in – 15.6 lbs/sq in)
