I met him at the Amex in the boardroom about 12 years ago and he looked very old then! Surprised he’s still going.

Bit of a miserable old sod by all accounts

I know people who’ve worked with him over the last two years. They found him kind and charming.

I did momentarily wonder whether I thought he’d already passed when I saw the thread title. Delighted to realise he obviously hasn’t!
That's why I was very careful how I wrote the thread title. I am not a WUM.
Would have been a bold move on the part of the BBC to broadcast his passing live on the radio.

With respect to him, he seemed quite elderly back then which must have been 10 years ago. Hopefully he is doing well. He was a great figure of support in our dark days and having someone of his stature banging the Albion drum must have helped a great deal.
He is 7 years younger than Julie Andrews and 17 years younger than her Mary Poppins co-star, Dick Van Dyke.

One would hope there is still plenty in tank for bird feeding, chimney sweeping, carousel riding, horse racing and of course, kite flying.

Enjoyed the interview... adore CM too.. Des did a talk locally, Rustington last month, I had planned to go, but life got in the way.
Was he playing the Methodist Church Hall?

was def a church hall... yes.
Well pull up a chair boys and girls and I shall tell the same story I've already told 73 times.

I saw Motty play a sellout gig at the Rustington Methodist Church Hall.
He was thanked for his storming, tour de force, performance then the master of ceremonies said to the mosh pit:-

'make sure you come back next week when the guest speaker will be John Smith and his fascinating topic:-

The Lighter Side of Nazi Occupied Guernsey'.

A tremendous effort.

Would that be the same patronising (to female contestants) Colin Murray who presents Countdown ?
Sorry, I don't watch day-time TV.

But I think Colin Murray is a great radio program host

Surely yr going to own up about the Jerry Springer crush you had way back.
Student halls, those lie ins and cold bake beans ???
I didn't watch telly for 3 years when I was a student. Partly because it was all shite (Love thy Neighbour, Mind Your Language, Nationwide; I could go on). Partly because we were out watching amazing bands in the evening (Wire, The Fall, Gen X, The Soft Boys, XRay Specs, The Birthday Party, The Ruts; I could go on and probably will). And partly because we didn't have a sodding TV ???.
