Chaps, with respect what you're saying is bollocks.

I'm nothing to do with NSK and never will be, but I stand in that corner of the North and it's mostly the traditional songs that are sung, in fact I haven't heard any of them start ultras style songs for the last few games. Alot of people join in at the back, but the front half of the N1A is quite mixed with a fair number of old people/kids, as I imagine WSU is so not everyone gets going.

I agree with commander on one point, if people want a better atmosphere then they need to stand up and be counted and make an effort to start songs and join in, rather than moan at others for not being good enough. But in reality the sad fact is that a high proportion of our support are happy clappers, bobble hats and old people who aren't interested and are probably the types moaning on this thread.
Now your way off the mark...just because people get old...(maybe you will one day)...does not mean they have lost their passion for the football or the club..in fact I am more 'interested' in the club now than I ever was...that's after 54 years...great to them that sing...just wish it was new songs..instead of that "Stand up if you hate....". Nearly every song is stolen or borrowed from other clubs and twisted to suit the singing throng of that club...the only song that we own is "Good Ol' Sussex by the Sea" though I expect Crawley will be using it.

I'll never get old, that's a fact :p

I know I'm generalising and I'm sure there's a few who break the mould, but it's pretty obvious that on the whole it's the younger generation who are making the noise and has been for the last 50 years. Like I said in my other post, I have no problem if people don't want to join in, just don't moan at other people for doing what they want to do.

My other point still stands though, if you don't like the songs why aren't you making up new ones or trying to get the ones you do like going in the area that you sit in?

Seriously, this is the most CU*TY thread I've read on here in a long time. The silly thing is that most of the song police on here are probably the ones who don't join in anyway.

It was mentioned on the Liz costa thread yesterday, there is a real nasty attitude amongst some Albion fans of "you're in the wrong if you don't support the team in the same way as me" I've got no problem if people want to just sit there and watch the football, don't whinge at me for making a bit of noise, letting off some steam and enjoying myself.

"B B B B B B But, but, but, but, but, but it's banal and moronic" f*** OFF, FFS it's just a football song, it is what it is and it's not supposed to be thought provoking or a lyrical masterpiece. I'm glad it's moronic and banal, perhaps I want to spend a few minutes every weekend being moronic and banal, why? I don't know, mabye just because I can.

Noise and volume is the most important thing about getting behind the team, not words and meaning. That dale cavase song is one of the best examples of this. No words and no relevance to any club, but watch that video on youtube and try and tell me that's not getting behind the team.

Some people need to live and let live, pull your heads out of your arses and stop whinging at others for enjoying themselves.

Good for you Billy .....i totally agree with you i'll support the Albion any way i feel fit to whatever it is, who do these f'ing poeple think they are telling us how to support the Albion....like the f***ing club belongs to them and we must do as they want sorry liz costa and des ......i still hate Palace and there knob posters.

I don't care for the "Stand Up If...." But please, please please, can we stop that "Whooo We Are The Sussex, Sussex, Sussex by the Sea Sea, Sea..." someone has copied it from heaven knows where, and it is a Palace song, hence I do not sing it.

I would love to hear "Tom Hark" as a more regular tune. I have attempted it for the last few home games in the North Stand, and I might have well been attempting Esperanto.

I've never understood why singing and chanting are allowed.

Surely there must be some Euro or Health and Safety directive that could bring silence so that the deep thinkers amongst us are not disturbed during the game ?

Absolutely.

Perhaps a polite (but not too long) round of applause when something pleasing happens, and a quiet chastisement such a "well that was rather poor" to express any frustrating moments.

That way the wise and knowledgable posters here at NSC can enjoy their footy without the need to stand up or sit down, sing songs they don't like, or really get involved in any atmosphere what so ever.

I am writing to my MP, and the Daily Mail.

On a different note (and i've not been away for ages) do we have any songs about current players?
I can't remember hearing one this season

Whilst we are on the subject, am I the only one that hates the "your shit aha" at the opposing goalie? It makes me cringe every time, and I don't think it does anything to put the keeper off.

Well my two young sons love it - might be the opportunity it gives them to swear without getting told off though !

Anyone who doesn't hate Palace isn't BHA. End of discussion.

Everyone should hate Palarse, I do, but I wont stand up or sing it in any match except against Palarse, then I will stand and give it full volume.

Or alternatively maybe, just maybe, some people are mature enough to understand the true meaning of the word "hate" and it certainly isn't appropriate for a rival football club ?

Des: 'Nothing irritates me more at home Albion matches than having to listen to that banal chant of "Stand up if you hate Palace"

We have wonderful supporters - the best in the country in my opinion bearing in mind what we have all been through in recent years.

We should show how sporting we are'

Let's kick that dreadful chant into touch

Argus

Bang on .... Childish and pointless, IMO
