Anyone been to see him? Went today and was sceptical but it was absolutely mind blowing! The show had everything from laughing to crying, highly recommend

Yes we saw it a couple of weeks ago, I agree with you, I'd never seen him before and wasn't sure what to expect but it was excellent entertainment and quite poignant. I'm still not sure what I really did or didn't see at the end.

It’s a superb show, the problem was the central “payoff” trick was eerily familiar.
They use real audience members - they aren’t plants. Derrin asks the audience member to walk across the stage with him during the interval (notice the unusual curtain?) and they record the action. He gives spiel about how this action subconsciously is influencing audience members as we speak etc.
Then during the second act, his team use video editing to splice that footage on top of the earlier taken footage which includes the front rows. The audience reaction on screen is genuine because they’re watching something different to what happened on stage first time around.
It’s very cleverly done but it’s also very similar to his lottery trick. He has a very talented technical team behind him!

Went in December. 3rd time of seeing him. Wizard! Best at manipulation and misdirection there currently is. Always sentiment in his act and debunking of mainstream psychics.
Great and bemusing entertainment. I love not quite understanding what just happened.

I went to the 14:30 show. The teddy bear words, laugh, hugs, energy? I caught the frisbee twice in the dress circle but instantly threw it to someone else. Had people around me go on stage and I spoke to them at the interval they were just in a daze..

Saw him a few years back live at theatre royal - he is phenomenal. Very clever man.

Mrs H wanted to go see him so we went in Nov '21. She thought it was fantastic, I was rather nonplussed about the whole thing. Appreciate he's a clever bloke though.

Watching on the tele box I tend to go, I know how he did that, I know how he did that, I know how he did that, How on earth did he do that!!
Went to the Theatre Royal Brighton show a few years back. He does a few tricks that look simple using completly random people. He ended up with something even more random but then showed an advert he placed in the Argos from the week before exactly as randomly predicted. Just mind blowing.

What’s great is that everyone can enjoy it, even if you know how it’s done. He performs with such artistry.
The majority of stuff about his ability to influence is true, but not in the way people think it is. Involuntary hypnotism doesn’t exist. Hypnotism relies on being willing to cooperate; one is fully conscious during the experience, most of the time it lowers inhibitions because people’s desire to believe forces other than their own desire to please and entertain are at hand.
He uses a technique called “instant stooging” frequently. That’s technically influencing people!
Brilliant entertainer and clever man, but everything is a lot more simple in execution than most people realise. It just takes preparation, practice and skill.
I think there’s a good chance it did happen. Throughout the show there were loud bangs and those red flashes of light. Derren has used loud noises before, such as in the greyhound winning ticket one where he banged on the counter. This, along with the chosen words, confuses and distracts. Maybe, like is mentioned here already, video was spliced together but it can’t have been done during interval as the guy who was placing the card in the box wasn’t on stage when the curtain came down on the first half so I’m at a loss when this would’ve been done.
Derren said something about 60/70% of audience would be left wondering what happened ie how did he only say ‘1,2,5’ and the card was in the box? Why would he say that, the 60/70%? Plus, why would he say ‘keep it a secret’? If lots of people know what’s coming then it’s less likely they’ll be hypnotised. Just my thoughts.
