Personally I think this is not good news. We really do need to keep hold of our young players if weare going to progress. This business about selling and reinvesting that will bring rewards didn't exactly work with ulloa!

I think if the club look to offload dunk and jfc, that will confirm a lot of people's view that the Amex is a white elephant that we can only afford by selling our best players. I am not sure I subscribe to that view, but I can see where they are coming from.

5m can buy a lot of talent. And the last thing we need when trying to sign promising players, like the Iranian bloke, is a reputation for holding players' careers back.

As for the the Amex, it has had over 2 million football fans go through the turnstiles in only 4 years, as well as the concerts and upcoming rugby World Cup. Not many would see that as a white elephant.

Season ticket holders appear to have stood by the club by renewing, this is the last chance to get it right. Another season like last year and the club could find themselves in trouble financially. It is still early in the recruitment of players so I am not worrying yet, but if we have still not signed anyone of note in the next two weeks I will start.

Exactly my point. Do you think TB will continue to pump money in if we have 14K gates. No, he will either sell or cut budgets and we will be heading for League two. There are different limits to struggling financially and at the moment as in most clubs, as you say, the clubs are propped up by directors etc. However a half full Amex could be a step too far.

If we sell Dunk for £5m it would mean that the club would have seen a return on players of over £20m in the last 18 months. Selling them is all part of the footballing economy and because they have short careers there is no point in getting overly attached to them. Just appreciate them while they are here. Even the top Prem clubs have no guarantee of keeping players and every club is fluid in that regard.

Good recruitment, spending wisely and developing players is the only way to go.

We are not (nor is any other team with our championship standing) in a position to prevent young players furthering their careers in the Premier league. If Newcastle want Lewis, do you think he is going to say, "no thanks, i'd rather stay at the Albion". He will want to take advantage of the opportunity and the club will make sure they get top dollar just as they did with Bridcutt, Buckley and Ulloa.

We do not have to sell Dunk, so going by recent transfer dealings we'll play hardball and get a good price, and £5m in my view represents good value. Much less than that does not.

I personally think providing a gateway to career advancement could prove useful in making the Albion an attractive destination for ambitious young players. Championship clubs (not just the Albion) will always get trumped by Premier League clubs, there is not a lot we can do to stop it, we can however make sure we do not get ripped off.

As for the benefit of the Ulloa money, as I understand it that was not in last years pot, but has gone into this years accounts freeing up some much needed cash players this summer.

Indeed, like most we are a selling club. One thing is certain Barbs will get top dollar for any player now. Thats a good thing.

What I dont want to see anymore is willy wavng over £200k for a proven champ leftback (Ward) having already agreed terms and then get blindsided at the last min. That started the alarm bells. In fairness that wasnt Barbs fault.
