Are you having a laugh its only the second league game, a lot of people held off their holidays for the donny match and are probably away now.

Exactly the issue with us, planned our summer holiday around the Donnybrook game. However our seats were used today

If Blackpool had 1,200 and 1,350 seats were empty in the away end, then only 506 home seats were empty? what's the panic....19,494 is a good crowd

EDIT:you will notice that wine and maths don't mix-

it is still a better crowd than there was at pompey last weekend, and it was their first home game...

I get the feeling it will get a lot lower. It's a piss take really. I'm sure there are fans desperate to get to games. I bet a few people got an ST just to make sure theyre at donny. So what good is adding 8000 more seats if fanbase was there for novelty?

BHAFC_Pandapops

Your so wrong.....season tickets have sold out...there is a waiting list for next season. It is not a piss take. The fanbase will grow, as will this this team and club. And what is your problem with the club adding extra seats ? Are you paying for them? ... at the least we are only be going to be 1500 short of capacity for our home games..AS OF NOW ! Maybe your another one that should just go and sit at the Withdean on match days..maybe bring back the memories that you want !

Come September we'll see nothing of the sort, as our two home games are Leeds & Palace.

Personally I see nothing wrong with the odd new fan, how inward looking (& dare I say it, snobbish) to suggest we only want "real" supporters. How does a club ever expand with only "real" supporters allowed in? For the last 14- in fact significantly longer- seasons, we'd have bitten anyone's hand off for a crowd of nearly 20,000. It amazes me how some people want to find a reason to criticise things at every opportunity. Whatever happens, we'll have the largest percentage increase on our crowds of any club in this league this season. Nothing to gripe about there, get a grip.

As usual you make perfect sense.

Have not read through whole thread but....Avg league attendance us (palace) 19857 (12749) % of tickets sold/capacity 89% the best in the league (48%) Second worst only to Barnsley. Massive club that Palace.

6 August v 20 August

Good post. This is clearly just the holiday factor. The same happened at Withdean. Take the last season where we had home games on comparable dates, 2009/10:

Sat 8 Aug - 6504;
Sat 22 Aug - 5207

I must admit I'm a bit worried about the empty seats.from my seat in wsu there seemed to be a lot of empty seats in the east Stand near to the south stand.that is the area that the club has set aside to sell tickets on a match by match basis.
What worries me is non season ticket holders think that all matches will be sold out so don't try to buy tickets.

Can vouch for the summer holidays effect - off in France this week, although made sure the tickets would be used for this week and the Peterborough game. Wouldn't worry - start we've had and the games coming up will keep bums on seats.

Every seat up for sale was sold. Those seats in the East are held back by the club for comps and VIPS, which looks daft on reflection if they arent shifting them and people cant get tickets. In addition 3 of our group of 10 were on hols but we managed to shift the tickets, Im sure there were plenty away that due to the lack of ticket exchange left an empty seat.

Where are the match by match tickets sold? Me and my Dad have season tickets in West Upper and have had completely different people next to us at the Donny and Blackpool games, we're hoping today's match didn't have the real season ticket holders there, because my Dad was next to a moooooooosive fella, even with the Amex's generous seat spacing.

My Dad can't make next Sat's game, trying to get a mate to go with me, but living in South London im not sure they see the attraction of Brighton v Peterborough when they support Arsenal, United and Chelsea etc. :(

I was counting on it slackening of as I haven't been yet, this wont happen if we stay in the top 6 which I think we will. A plummet down the table would see crowds drop, that has always been the case.

Also agree with Edna.

Same next to me. Different people each time, despite being in 100% s/t area in WSU.
Because some have shared s/t's, and/or given them to mates/family when on holiday.

Given the number of home games of late and time of year it is not really that surprising that not everyone has made every game. Not really had a team capable of filling the away end yet. My guess is Leeds will be the first game to come close to capacity

What a CAUC you really are when last season 8,000 was a good crowd

A bit of a stretch to suggest somebody would buy a season ticket just to be present at one game. I was surprised by the attendance as apart from the away end there were no obvious blocks of empty seats. Around me though there were a few pairs of seats empty - it is still the peak holiday season after all.

Why not? I did.

And I know of at least two or three others who did exactly the same. I'll be surprised if we'll be at more than a dozen or so other games all season between us.

I wonder if the 8000 extra seats will go in next summer regardless of attendances. I know that the transport plans have to be proved this season before permission will be granted but surely there is a commercial decision for the club to make as well i.e. cost v potential return.

With us not being able to fill all of the seats for only our second home league game, we'd be looking at 8000 empty seats each week until we got a big team in the cup.

Christ are people really that stupid to think everybody and the 1901's will be at every game and all season ticket holders will be?
Yes our capacity is 2500 but nobody ever sells out completely, the coporate seats will always have a fair few missing and upto 500 a match.Every match this season will be between 19,500/22,000,even when the awayend is sold out the crowd will be around 21,600 odd.

Christ its unreal that people think crowds are slipping even when the stadium is sold out:lolol:
