I met him a couple of times in the 80s. Well, I say 'met him' he and I used to occasionally drink in the same pub in Laleham (Staines). I didn't talk to him directly but he was friendly enough and would stand by the fireplace and regale anyone who wanted to listen with his stories.

I saw him in a small and intimate concert in Brighton several years ago, i think it was his birthday. There were only about 50 of us in the audience, sitting around round tables I seem to remember. He didn't do an encore cos his wife? and mates had arranged a party for him.

He'll be missed.
