Yes but would our overall tally had been higher with someone better than Welbeck? yes.
Spurs have a 30 goal a season striker and finished below us

Welbeck only missed 6 squads all season - the ‘longest’ run was 3 games.

Since his corrective surgery when he returned December 2021 he definitely has not been injury prone.
The problem with Danny is that he’s just not that ‘goal prone.’

Love him though, and his mentoring of the younger ‘stars’ will be vital for a few more seasons yet… he’s a been there, stayed there and looks good for it pro.

It baffles me that with RDZ at the helm – a man who, by the admission of many of his peers, looks at football in a different way – people are STILL wanging on about us needing to spaff more millions on a mythical 20 goals a season striker!

As @dazzer6666 says, there are only three teams who scored more goals than the Albion this season – and FOUR players scored 10 goals or more. But the answer to getting higher in the league is getting a 'better' striker in? OK mates...:facepalm:

Here and There
Good foundation to enter ‘cult’ status. Written off, but redeems himself through solid performances, goals and a chant everyone knows.

For the price, you cannot argue with his value as a member of the squad. He'll never be a regular starter but that isn't his role. To come off the bench, start the odd game he's perfect, and he's a great, great finisher.

These people aren't going to go away unfortunately. Times change, people don't.

I don't agree he has a poor first touch. He started out that way (FA cup semi) but he had to work off a lot of rust. The rust seems to have now gone. To me he looks like a massive upgrade on Maupay, capable of more goals. He reminds me of another very effective German, Gerd Müller.
Gerd Muller who scored over 500 goals!!!! Undav will have to become very special to remind me of Muller.

Perhaps he'll never make it that far, but he could be Muller Lite?

And maybe he'll make us more fruitful at corners?

[I was going to try a weak footballing joke about Muller Rice, too, but the bastards have got in there before me... https://www.muller.co.uk/our-brands/muller-rice]

From that article on the website:

'“In the academy at Werder Bremen some coaches called me Gerd Muller. I didn’t know who he was at first, but they said I had a similar style…with a big backside! So I started watching some old videos, and they had a point. Playing with my back to goal and holding the ball up is my big strength and if you are strong you can hold off one or two defenders – you don’t have to be a giant to play that target-man role."'
