I say cash in.

The bloke will be 28 in 2 weeks time, his stock will never be so high, he loves it in Germany, he's in the national team squad, he has Champions League football to look forward to.

He doesn't know how things will work out for our new manager or what his 1st XI will look like but I can't see him walking back into our starting line up and it has great potential for him to turn into a disgruntled bench player.

Isn’t that up to him and how he performs when given the chance?

I just think we can't know on this one.

We don't know what sort of striker Hurzeler wants, we don't know if he is strongly opposed to coming back to England or is just enjoying Stuttgart a bit more, we don't know if anyone is willing to buy him, we don't know if we're in for a replacement, we don't know if the club are looking to sell him

What needs to happen, is that Deniz needs to finish his tournament. I think this will happen on Friday. Then he can have a nice break for a week or so, then Hurzeler needs to sit him down and talk through what he wants from a striker, how he sees Deniz role and where he sees him in the pecking order.

Deniz and his agent can then sit down and think through their available options. If that is looking elsewhere, the club then has time to factor this in for planning the new season.

You think we need a striker, but shouldn't buy one?

Try recounting and re-assessing.........
"Sell him ASAP while there's interest and reinvest the money elsewhere in the squad." - sounds perfectly reasonable to me, and better than any of the options 1 to 4 .................... and where does it say we shouldn't buy a striker? Of course, a shiny new 20+ goals a season striker would be lovely (but unlikely) but much less of a priority than CM, CDM and FB.

No ambition...

What they say and what they mean aren't always the same.
But in Undav's case he's been quite consistent, with the reason explained repeatedly on NSC (family issues, family are German living in Germany).

The only reason he'd stay with us (or move to another EPL side) is if these issues are resolved.

Murray consistently bleated on about family reasons for wanting to move up north, then went to Palace.

For the great majority of footballers there's a way for "issues to be resolved" and it's not usually to do with location

West Ham love spending big money on a player who has shown a brief flash of ability, and throw big contracts. Hopefully we get the sale, to whoever, on our terms for the fee we want plus a Premium if selling to a Premier League side.

Rip their eyes out, TB!

Murray isn't Undav.

(And I don't recall Murray bleating at all about moving up north when he was with us, let alone constantly. I have heard repeatedly that he would have signed a new contract with us, and went to Palace over a measly £2,500 a week). Are you sure you haven't made all that up?

(I will give you Robbie Savage, who apparently thinks that Blackburn is closer to Wrexham than Birmingham is, but this was a bloke who arrived as a pundit in South Africa for a June world cup with only shorts and t shirts in his suitcase).

Are you questioning the reason Undav went to Germany?

Of course, at the end of the day, needs must. But do you really think Undav would just pop back here if we paid him more money? I find that quite disrespectful to the man. My guess is you are completely unware about the reasons he's in Germany. It has been mentioned repeatedly

It's been mentioned repeatedly on here, but not repeatedly by Undav

Maybe it is family reasons, maybe not. You don't know, I don't know, nobody on here knows, despite many claiming they do. Deniz and maybe his Mrs knows, that's probably it

What we do know is that the majority of footballers patently don't tell the truth about their intentions when a transfer is in the balance. I don't damn them for it, (well ok maybe Jordan Henderson I do) It just isn't in their interests to do so. You always have to read between the lines and exercise a degree of suspicion

I agree with your general point about intentions, but have no reason to presume this applies specifically to Undav.

(If he sings for Wet Sham on a big money contract then I will of course take it all back. In fact I'd be more than happy to make you a lovely hot cup of tea  )
