Great price for Undav; mitigates the potentially low (IMHO) price for WBG.

Decent fee - paid 7m euros, selling for 30m euros, especially for a player who wanted the move and was unlikely to be a regular starter for us. Dennis gets a good move and we get a decent fee.

Not sure I get your point? Nunez never wanted to come here at any point, VVD was out of our price range in the Championship and Kudus wanted a release clause that we didn't. Are you saying that it's an example of good or bad business?
I may be misremembering this but Poyet waned VVD in January 2013, but was refused, and later after Poyet was dismissed, went to Celtic, in the summer, for roughly the same price. It was part of his falling out with the club.

I actually thought similar, and that we didn't want to pay the fee. It turns out on doing some digging that we (and Krasnodar) has agreed to meet his fee, but he turned us down because he wanted to move to the Dutch top flight with Ajax. That didn't come about and he went to Celtic for £2.6m instead

Excellent bit of business.
Very tidy profit. Absolutely no excuse for not providing a coat rail in the 1901 Club now.

Did we pull out? Or just not prepared to, or able to, outbid other more wealthy teams (or offer equivalent salaries). Pretty disingenuous comment after all the players we have bought.
Nunez we were screwed over by the change in president in Benfica, had a deal agreed and expected to get him before Rui Costa came in suddenly and cancelled all ongoing deals.

Van Dijk, as confirmed by Gus, would've been an outrageous amount of money spent by a Championship club and we pushed very hard but just couldn't afford it.

Kudus was the player and agent at fault. We did everything right but supposedly were screwed by unexpected player demands.

You are misremembering (a bit).

Poyet wanted VVD, & VVD wanted to come (in January).

The club agreed a fee with Groeningen, but because they were in danger of relegation, they insisted that the deal could not go through until the end of the season.

Then, at the end of the season, they moved the goalposts, and said that he was still ours to sign, but that the price had gone up (a modest increase from something like £2.2m to £2.5m, or somesuch).

Tony Bloom walked away from the table, furious that they'd changed the price after shaking on a deal, and refused to sanction the transfer (at any increased cost) as a matter of principle.

I really liked Undav, especially his top level finishing but we got a good price.

I was surprised to hear that Hürzeler wanted to keep him seeing how much work the likes of Welbz has been doing in central midfield and on the wing. Perhaps that was tactics?

Deniz leaves with my best wishes. I won’t be surprised to see 15+ Bundesliga goals again alongside a handful of Champions League ones. But for us…….seemingly not quite the sort of player we need, much like WBG.

Agree. Although I actually would have liked to keep him, he's 28 and won't generate a fee like this again the the near future you'd suspect (although Wet Sham just spent the same on a 31-year-old Füllkrug). €30m + add-ons seems too good to turn down when we play a fluid front three, he's only really capable of being the no. 9 "fox-in-the-box" and he could likely still be behind Ferguson, Pedro and Welbeck

Brilliant price. I personally think its a bit OTT but what do I know!

I actually liked him as a player.

lad could not hold up the ball. decent finisher but not worth £30m. Great bit of business.

It's more like £26m.

I think the price is about right, considering the season he's just had.

...but it's great business by the club considering he was more or less forcing a move, and we stood our ground to get more money.
