Daily Record Newspaper today:
"Moussa Dembele's agent Mamadi Fofana attended Brighton's 2-0 loss against Chelsea as speculation mounts over a move to the Premier League.
Mamadi Fofana was at Stamford Bridge for the Seagulls 2-0 defeat against Chelsea as he shared a video on social media of him taking in the action on Boxing Day.

That's probably a clincher for him not to come to us now. If he saw anything at Stamford Bridge yesterday that made him think his client should join us, I'd be very surprised.

Would it not be more likely that he’d be advising his client not to come if he’d witnessed a complete performance, where every position was comfortably filled, with no space for a pacey, competent striker (if that’s what Dembele is) to fill? Surely the lad wants the opportunity to play regular football and showcase his World Cup worthy skills (if they exist)? Just my thoughts.

I recognise that and that is certainly the popular view.

My take on yesterday's performance was that neither Izquierdo nor March put in any crosses worth mentioning, so if you're a striker considering joining a club based on that performance, you might question whether you'd get any service and give us a swerve.

Obviously you wouldn't decide a move just on yesterday's performance and we are a credible team for any aspiring Premier League striker to join.

Bottom line for me is that I think this whole Dembele story has been nonsense from the start. I want to hear about a player we are actually going to sign.

Any side that can be beat 4-0 by Hearts isn’t going to be beating us.

One off game...it happens, Bristol City beat a Utd team with the likes of Zlatan and Pogba in that does not mean Bristol City are now one of the top teams in country.

These aren't the players you're looking for.

Yeah they would,

Hopefully the deal goes through and a friendly can be arranged as part of the agreement. At least then we can put to bed these arguments about the true quality of Celtic and Scottish football.

It's difficult to know how good they are, but going by their Champions league results, against Man City they were fairy good and against PSG they were terrible. So who knows?

The only good thing about today's developments is that it might concentrate some minds if we've bid for any other striker.

It looks like Dembele's agent is playing us but - hypothetically - if you're Florin Andone's agent and you read the Daily Record story then you might be more inclined to take whatever deal the Albion have offered for him.

What makes things extra tough for the Albion is that there are a number of southern clubs established in the Prem that can offer higher wages; not only that but the best we're likely to achieve is 8th spot and an outside chance of a cup final, and that that makes it tricky when signing the likes of Dembele who is used to playing in the Champions League.

I can see good reasons for Dembele signing for us, but you see why the club usually end up scouring the Swiss and Belgian leagues for players who will do anything for a showcase in the Prem.

Yes was being slightly flippant. Looking at their squad though i’m struggling to find more than 2 players who would get in our side.

It's just a big smokescreen so we can sign Shane Long under the radar.
