We have the best defense in the league, the only way we can concede goals is when we make sloppy mistakes. If our defense wasn't so good and we had let in another 7/8 goals these mistakes wouldn't stand out as much.

Birmingham..super strike from Burke
Ipswich...header from an excellant cross (u might say Calderon was at fault..but nothing to do with midfielders)
Middlesbro...deflected shot
Leeds...well thats a known one

no idea where u r coming from

Not entirely correct lamster -

Ipswich header from a cross was gifted to them by Lua Lua getting caught in possession in midfield.
Burkes strike was a free effort from 20 yard why our midfielders were nowhere in sight when the ball dropped after greers attempted clearing header
boros goal -agree , one of those things
leeds goal, no midfielders in sight when the ball breaks 25 yards out from our goal.

Remember we play 3 holding midfielders, when the ball breaks we should have at least one picking up the pieces.

We only went for it,as you say, because Leeds let us, that was the worst performance from any side visiting us this season.

I guess you weren't at Wednesday and Barnsley games or we see the game from a totally different perspective. A team is as good as you allow them to be ... we made them look 2nd class imo

Hmm...dont agree re Burke...it was just one of those strikes...they happen!..Ipswich...well thats lua lua..nothing to do with closing down...and if your looking at mistakes then Leeds second goal originated with buckleys mistake..hey ho

Somewhere near Reading...
Birmingham, Ipswich, Boro and now Leeds.

All games where we've conceded sloppy goals from outside the box because either the defence or midfield fail to close down the opposition quick enough to stop a shot.

Absolutely doing my head in! Sort it out Gus

Umm yeah our defence is really shit isn't it? Considering this was the first game in which we have conceded more than one goal, one of which was a dodgy penalty...

The point i was making is that it came from midfield lapses which led to goals. Our defence has improved dramatically from last year but they need protection from the midlfield and on a few occasions already they have been guilty of ball watching.

Having said that, the goals that have been conceeded v Boro and leeds were from 25 yards ish so still needed an element of luck. Not worried about our defence at all this season just our attacking options. no point going into details as everyone knows whats required.

I'd be worried if Buckley gets crocked again though.

Agreed

Birmingham..super strike from Burke - the opportunity resulting directly from a very poor defensive header from Greer
Ipswich...header from an excellant cross (u might say Calderon was at fault..but nothing to do with midfielders - except whoever lost the ball to the Ipswich player who crossed to Chopra)
Middlesbro...deflected shot - sure, but the scorer wasn't closed down, as he similarly hadn't been on previous occasions. Bruno losing possession immediately beforehand in front of the West Stand gave 'Bro the chance
Leeds...well thats a known one.

no idea where u r coming from

Leicester - Bridcutt losing possession by the rh touchline led directly to their goal
Blackpool - midfield lost possession around the half-way line (I think it was Hammond or Buckley) allowed the winger in to cross; the scorer then had a free header because El Abd had lost his man.

Defensive/midfield mistakes in all of these.

Even the best teams in the world get caught out at times which lead to goals. You will never be able to play perfect football 100% of the time.

But the difference between good sides and Avergae sides is how you react to giving a goal away. Good sides have the required quality to brush it off, accept that they gave a goal away, and attack their opponents immediately after conceeding, average sides tend to panic a bit and their game goes from attacking to defending immedialtely hoping not to conceed again until they feel their way back into the game.

Hard to criticise the best defence in the country. Can't keep everything out

They are only the best when we constantly play with 10 men behind the ball. When we try to play attacking football, our defense is at best average.

Having said that, it was a very entertaining game, and if we had not let soppy bollocks waste a penalty, we would have won. Who let him take the second after he nearly shat himself waiting to take the first? We need to give penalty taking back to Barnes, of let one of the more skillful players have a go.

Have you always been a moaning whinging depressed angry Albion fan? I find it hard to believe that you have actively followed us for very long

These are great days to be an Albion fan, it's seems you don't get that.

f*** you. Who gave you the right to say who can post what?

For me, the great days were the 70s and early 80s - for any Albion fan, we can only aspire to such great times again.

I have no wish to be presented with boring tippy tappy latin football, resultion in 0-0 or 1-0 results. If you want to see 10 men sit deep and pass a ball about aimlessly - then lucky you!

If you read my post, it was appreciative of us playing attacking football for once, and with a decent penalty taker (or more concentration at the back) we would have won an entertaining match. I would be much happier with that type of match every week.
