Why should he have a right to appeal if Figo can't be retrospectively banned? They can't have it both ways.

It's been bugging me for ages who he reminds me of. Of course it's Chris de Burgh.

Many thanks for solving that little mystery.

There's a bit of Ballesteros in there, too.

Good - I find it odd to reverse decisions anyhow - obviously some times it has to happen - but this ain't one of em...

What part of his small brain ever thought he had a right of appeal?

It was the part just in front of the medulla, about 23 milimetres from the cerebral cortex. A part of the brain that is often found to be appealing.

He certainly was quite the plonker for acting like he did when he was already on a yellow. That ref has come into a lot of criticism, even from Sepp Blatter (what does he know?, he's a german) but the way the players were behaving I really don't see how he could have judged that game much differently.

There have been a couple of dodgy decisions so far, but in general this WC has had some fair refereeing imho.
If anything, the ref last night in the Swiss/Ukraine match could have handed out more discipline than he did - but that might have actually led to the game being even tamer than it was!

If you believe those two look alike, can I suggest a visit to Specsavers?
