Though I think that Wilkins has been treated shabbily by the club, don't you think that he should by now have accepted or rejected the club's offer? Clearly, he feels upset and insulted by the way he has been treated. As a proud man, he is bound to reject the club's offer. It is likely that he has decided on his future. So why hasn't he made his decision public?

Doubt whether the decision has been made yet.

Instinctively I am sure he was ready to walk, but I guess he will have lots of things to iron out first.

No less than meeting MA to see just how much he would like him to stay and what his exact role would be.

Dont forget by all accounts the club took months of whispering behind his back before eventually sacking their successful manager, so a couple of weeks for Wilkins to decide is something he feels quite entitled to.

A great servant to the club, but I do now feel he is using the club as a go between and stalling until summit better comes about. Time for DK to tell him to hop it.

Using the club as a go between? A go between...between whom or what?

Meaning.....weighing up other offers from alleged clubs such as Q.P.R.

The club are skin flints so will box clever so they dont have to pay his contract up, but the fact is.......anyone who was nuts enough to give Wilkins a long-ish contract reaps what he has sown.

He wont sign and that for me is a good thing, we want fresh idea's and micky can bring in a new coach that will freshen it all up.....if Dean White went that would top it all off as the best pre-season

I can't see him staying. Knight probably knows he's off but feels he can't hurry him along because he's already treated him like a kunt.

If he is as good as people make out at coaching and developing youth football then surely a premeirship club should be snapping at the heels of wilkins.

His rightfull place is being in charge of youngsters and if I was him or his agent being youth manager at one of the big prem clubs would be so much better than being demoted to a first team coach at the albion and he should be chasing that.

Good luck dean

I see. That is not a go between per se. That would be using Brighton as a reserve/substitue option if something else did not turn up.

He was offered a long-ish contract because he is a good coach and has the potential to be a good manager. I don't think anyone could have forseen the fall out over contract wrangles. Why was it nuts? Managers/Players/Coaches need a sense of job security.

Why would getting rid of White and Wilkins be such a good move for the club? We got through a very difficult patch last season and we showed decent progress and fell just short of the playoffs.

Micky has proclaimed that he wants Wilkins to stay and Micky appointed White in the first place!

My understanding was it was a contract as manager of the club, but maybe he was offered the contract to just be employed by the club in some capacity for the length of time offered.

By the looks of how things have turned out...it must have been that way.

Dont quite get you ??

As I understand it he was offered a 3 year contract whilst he was Manager, dont know if these positions are clarified on contracts, but I guess the salary in some way dictates the importance of his role.

I am sure that they have clauses allowing an amount of compensation if sacked that might not reflect the length of contract still to run.

I really wouldnt think that either Wilkins or the Club would be wrangling over compensation just yet.

Wilkins may be hurt by this sacking and understandably wants to see if a role of first team coach is tenable.

It may take meetings with the Chairman, Players and MA before such a decision might be made.

BigGully in sensible post shock! :D

It could be that the fact that Wilkins hasn't turned down the offer yet means that he is considering it, or at least wants to clarify a few things. MA is on holiday and it could be that they will get together when he gets back. Indeed most people involved with football are on holiday this time of the year, except those involved in play offs and internationals. They need a break from things just like normal people.

I just can't see him staying.

Surely he would look weak or unambitious if he stayed on, therefore much as I feel he's been well & truly shafted, I think he needs to crack on and do that flounce.
