I thought Henderson had another poor game. Give McPhee a chance – at least he looks interested!

Give McPhee the job-Henderson isn't interested. He can't run, can't jump-correction, doesn't want to jump, poor positional awareness. Basically crap most of the time, has a few moments and I'd rather have OUR lad getting the experience and building up HIS fitness instead of doing Reading the favours.

Bye Bye Darius:wave:

McPhee is definately looking the better player at present, and has, I think, done well enough for us to say "thank you and goodbye" to Darius.

I get the impression that I must be watching a completely different Darius Henderson to the rest of you. I have been very impressed over the last couple of games with his close control, ability to hold the ball up and his no-nonsense attitude. He has been an asset to the side over the last few weeks, and is doing the job he was brought in to do. I would like to see McPhee get more of a run-out however, as he has shown some good touches in his brief appearances as a sub, and I'm sure he'll use the Middlesborough game to stake his claim to a starting spot.

McPhee has done nothing yet to show that he is Div 2 quality. He was poor when he came on today.

Henderson is not the finished article, but he wins the contest with McPhee hands down.

Marney would be a better option than McPhee.

I think it's not as easy as it looks out there. Coming on as sub often gives a distorted and favourable perception I believe. (Where is Piercy by the way). Remember Lee Steele.

I just can't get Daniel Webb's approach after his first few games out of my head when I see Mc Phee. Hopefully he'll prove me wrong.

Henderson is almost certainly not the answer, but I disagree that he isn't trying and whilst he wears the shirt we should all support his efforts.

I saw Henderson trying out there today, and in some ways that was the problem. He tries too hard to make the right play and thinks too much about it, the instinct and flow isn't there. I'd like to see another striker partner Knight for the money of Henderson. McPhee I think looks good coming off the bench and, this might not sit well with some of you, should ideally continue to come off the bench for the rest of the season to polish his trade. Knight will continue to take knocks and will spend some time out of action mid season no doubt recovering, it's then we'll need a confident striker to see us through and it might be prudent to find that striker now.

I can't see many strikers queuing up to go on loan to the Albion, so I'll stick with Steve Coppell's team selection.

Henderson has done a good job imo and is better than McPhee.

However I do want to see McPhee get a chance because he really is starting to show his potential.

Fully agree.. why help a Reading player when we can help one of our own? Short term gain I suppose.

I'll leave it to Steve. He knows what he's doing! :)

We've already got him in the reserves and youth team

What there's a Uranus fan club as well now?

On a serious note, I'd like to give McPhee a chance but I do think we are being a little harsh on Darius. He is a tryer and I think he deserves more goals than he's achieved. My concern is his fitness (for a lad his age). He tends to get knackered 20 mins before the end.

I certainly don't want him to go back without a replacement. We don't have that many forwards.

I'd be happy to play Chris up front with LK on Wednesday but I don't want to send Darius back just yet.

Hove, f***ing ACTUALLY.
I've been a Henderson critic for a good few weeks now, but I think his awareness and link up play with LK on Saturday was pretty good.
One of the biggest concerns I had was that LK was 3 steps ahead of him in every game and DH was simply not on the same footballing wavelength, but I think on Saturday LK's Man of the Match award was partly due to some pretty clever holding and running by DH.
On the negative side if you are a target man you must be able to at least time your jumps in order to fullfil that function !
Some folk are never happy !!:lolol:

I've seen several people describe Henderson as 'a donkey' on this and other threads. These people have clearly been having a pint too many in the Sportsman before the game, and it's affected their vision, as this fella is one of the tidiest players I've seen this season, and his close control has enabled him to get out of many a tight spot. Donkey?
