Albion Appoint Wilkins And White

Club Press Release

Dean Wilkins has been appointed Albion manager on a permanent basis ahead of tomorrow's League One clash with Chesterfield.

The former Albion captain has agreed a contract until the end of the season. Dean White has been appointed as Wilkins's number two, but retains responsibility for the scouting and recruitment of players.

Albion Chairman Dick Knight said, "I am delighted to be able to make these appointments today. Through the intensive period of games over the last few weeks, Dean Wilkins has convinced the board that he has the makings of a very good manager and we have been impressed by the level of commitment and preparation that he has put into each of the matches.

"All the players and staff have responded well to the two Deans, and I am looking forward to working with them in taking this club forward."

Dean Wilkins said, "I am extremely proud and humble to be given the opportunity to continue to make the necessary changes required to take the club forward in this transitional period."

One of the first tasks for Wilkins is to review the first-team coaching set up and it is expected that he will recruit additional staff to assist in due course.

The new Albion manager added, "We have a very talented, but young squad and it is now imperative that we all get behind them and give them every ounce of support we possibly can - starting from tomorrow's match with Chesterfield."

Would have preferred someone else in the hot seat but I'll support him none the less.

I agree but would have prefered him reverting to coach with a senior figure to oversee him and then Dean White could contrate on scouting.
