I presume he along with a few other members of the squad deemed not good enough will sit on their arses until their contracts run out. The Southampton echo never mentions the anymore

He didn't think that when we he played against us at Withdean.

Saints are playing Barnsley in the League Cup tonight. The Southampton Echo today, reckons that they will make ELEVEN changes, and that'Hammond, Sharp and Barnard will STILL not get a game.

Surprised Barnard is still there

You can only assume that they are over-paying him. He's really not that good, beyond the top end of League One, so if they are paying him top Championship wages, who would take him? They are stuck with him, much as we were with Harley for a season too long.

Must have renewed the contract as he went there in 2010, thought he was at Oldham or somewhere last season on loan and didn't pull up any trees. Too much wages and not enough football removes the desire and ends up with them doing a Winston Bogarde happy to sit out a big contract doing F all

He may well have had a renewal/promotion clause written into his contract.

Exactly, he wasn't good for us then, and he's not good enough for us now.

Solid Champ player but we have better. He'll be on too much for that so someone will only take him on say a 50% of wages loan. Expect Southampton waiting hoping can shift him perm to a Bournmouth etc.

Apparently he's still trying to turn his car around a roundabout on his way back to Southampton.
