No i wasn't at that game. But everyone entitled to a mistake and what he did while playing in the stripes far out weighs it IMO.

I was at that game no one can blame him ,he plays with his heart and soul ,some albion fans are already giving noone grief ffs

Forced out? He went from a League 1 club to a Championship side for more money. We had to sell every player that we had an offer on just to survive in those days. We were already borrowing money from Tony Bloom then just to pay bills.

He wanted championship football, which he got from jan-may when he got relegated with Colchester.....

See that's not how i heard it or he saw it, why else would he be so hyped up on that infamous day??? Did he ever have any issues before with any Albion fans before?

Will not happen often but on this i agree with you red, Dean deserves success where ever he goes the man plays with passion great to watch

He was captain, a box to box midfielder, who scored more than his fair share of goals, who took the responsibility of penalties. He was a big loss who it took a lot of time to replace.

I have no idea what went on behind the scenes.

In all the years I've been going to Brighton can never remember anyone reacting to scoring against us the way Hammond did that night. There was no justification for it at all and I have absolutely no respect for him as a man. I hope the shit never comes near the Amex for us as a player -
it is far too good for nasty little wankers like him.

Can't understand the fuss. He was a very good player, sold against his will by Knight. Never wanted to leave. I'd have him back, no problem

Absolute bollocks.

Knight wanted to keep him and privately was gutted he left. He was offered £125k a week, but Colchester who had a mini spending spree offered him £175k a week.

Where do you get your 'facts' from?

I think you're missing some decimal points there (at least I hope so!).

I know a couple of Saints fans and they were always of the opinion that he was their weakest link last season.

Strange i work with more than a few stains fans and they are all sorry to see him go,they accept that the 2nd tier is his level but realy appreciate his role in getting them promoted twice in succesion

No, and we'd played Southend before, with him in the team, with no problems, so it wasn't the first time he came up against us. As already stated in this thread, he was applauded when his name was read out, so why he went off on one, nobody knows.

Nobody ever gave him stick or booed and he ran to the South Stand GOADING and shouting 'f*** off f*** off' etc. You like to go against the grain for the sake of it don't you?

He wasn't abused by the fans until after he scored that goal. Harding was the only one getting stick up to that point.

Yes that's my point i heard he was called w**nker, c**t etc and all the frustration of him being pushed out by DK he took the abuse back out at the fans, he really wasn't thinking i hate all Brighton fans, but let's face it we do have a few knobs.
He was wrong and so was King Dick for getting rid IMO.

I can understand the hatred for Leon as he was a up and down character but Hammond was a reliable leader that played his heart and soul out even in friendlies through some of our successful years.

Let's face it you would be pissed off if you had to play at Colchester.
