why on earth should he feel loyalty towards the fans, which could have helped sway him to stay.
Cos I've been paying his WAGES ever since he's been at the club.

OK, maybe not ALL of them, but I must have covered a few KFC's for him in his time.

free in summer unless we manage to get into playoff which i doubt after the loss at northampton tonight.. hope he stays as i rate him highly, and he has got 6 goals this season upto now which isnt bad for midfielder only just over half way through the season.

Colchester have bid again for him. Brighton have accepted it.

Ball in his court.

If he signs for Colchester it will prove that what the agent said about his ambition to play at a higher level was bollocks, because they will probably come back down this season, if not we will pass them at the end of next season.

But if faced with to similar offers then the fans support could help sway him to stay

There are or have been loyal players, Matt le Tissier for example, he could have left Southampton for a real club, but chose to stay for his entire career

Yep, Le Tis had a chance to play for the club he supported (Spurs) but couldn't leave the Saints fans because of how well they treated him.

Granted, Le Tissier is slightly different than Hammond but the principle is the same

Is he back in contention this Saturday? Or does he have one more game out? I can't remember?

I think he'll walk on a free, its a weird one. I want him to sign, but if he isn't I wont him out.

Still one more game to serve.

Yes. if he doesn't sign or go before the window closes then more fans at Withdean will be on his back, unless he ups his performances.

If I wanted to prove myself and have a good courier, even as an outsider, surely Brighton are a bigger club than Colchester? Falmer is just around the corner.

i agree. Their brand new stadium only holds 10,000, so one can only assume their fan base isn't huge.
However, they obviously have more money!!!!

Come on deano make a decision one way or the other.
I'd love him to stay, sign a deal, and have a last minute revelation that he wants to stay with the club that has brought him through the ranks. I wonder with the murray signing whether we are banking on Hammond leaving? We've shown some ambition but I don't think it will be enough. He could end up in a relegation dog-fight.... (if he goes that is :lolol:)

Again, like Southend, Colchester are not a bigger club than the albion...
