I believe that Cox is an ideal squad player according to son he is a gobby little prat in the pubs of HH but I do not want to see him in a pub. I think that there are many others who should be gone before him and didnt he sign an extended contract last season.

Virgo!? Only if we bring in an experienced central defender a la Morgan or Butters...

Is this necessary? You've heard 2nd hand and it's not the first time you've said it either.

I've got first hand experience of Dean Cox on several occasions when I've been out with my kids. On one occasion, DC was with a load of mates and they were lairy as all lads his age are but when my boys went up to him to ask for an autograph he blanked his mates and couldn't have been more professional.

Agree with you though on deserving a new contract as an excellent impact player.

Do we need him now? Gus doesn't seem to think so. Agreed though on the need for a level headed old pro at the back. How about Chris Perry at Southampton who doesn't seem to be able to get a look in there?

I am not degrading him for being a gobby little prat as most kids of his age in pubs are that.
He has the added bonus of being well known and as such others will try to have a pop at him possibly out of jealousy. In his position as a local celebrity he has to be above everything for fear of being typecast.

There you go again. Your son's opinion of him in pubs around HH is irrelevant and this is just nasty.

How can you say you're not degrading him (I think you mean denigrate)? Let's talk about his football ability rather than your son's opinion of him, eh?

Yes, we should keep Virgo - basically he's a decent player, but like nearly everyone else at the club, his form has dipped over the last year - back Virgs back to his best is an asset to the squad (like El Abd) - not necessarily always a first choice, but good cover, and versatile.

I like the idea of Chris Perry, though, if he's still got it.

Its you that is going on about it not me I am just explaining my post. A number of players live and socialise in the area but you never hear anything bad about any of them. Why not just drop that aspect of the thread, which incidentally others have said.

As a player I consider him to be a valuable member of the squad but he isnt pulling up trees to be garuanteed a first team spot. I cannot see a 1st Div club coming in for him although it was very strongly rumoured that he was going to Pompey a couple of years ago.

I'm not doubting Virgo's versatility. Just that whether he's good for team harmony. Thinking back to last year when Adams played him everywhere except goalie and kitman and then this year as an ineffective captain and those comments after Slade left.

Saying that though, any cockiness he had is surely gone now that he hasn't played at all under Gus (has he?).

Yeah, you're right and I'm wrong. Fair dos, Virgs stays.

Just to let everyone know:

I got told by a friend who works behind the bar at a popular Haywards Heath bar where Cox is a familiar face their. Dean said the "he has already agreed terms".

Interesting ???

Not sure what's happened to Virgo - he seems to have lost his mojo. I think you should give him some credit for his captaincy and performances at the end of last season tho as he played very well when at centre half and put in a good shift as captain.

For one reason or another it hasn't happened this season for him - is that down to him not trying, poor form, or something else?? Personally have no idea but always thought he comes across as a top bloke and would love to see him stay at the club and become a rock in central defence..

The Broadway does seem to attract the lairy Billy Big Bollocks type though.I'm not saying that Coxy is.

If he does leave in January,it would be a shame imo.

Would be disappointed to see him go but a move might be good for him to give his career a kick and would also get a few quid for the team.

If he is off to Southampton in January that means they know they'll still be in L1 next season.

Like Jake Robinson he is no better than a Div 2 player and we must unload to make room for signings of Championship standard.
