We did a dry run (it was quite wet actually) to Falmer today to see how easy it will be to get there on match days. Took the train from Portslade (£2.30 return with a rail card) and twenty minutes later, having changed at Brighton we were standing next to the Amex. From there we decided to try out the Swan. The food was quite good and the staff were friendly, although we didn't announce ourselves as BHA supporters. We sat close enough to the bar to be able to over hear what the locals were saying while they sipped their halves of Tally Ho. Evidently they are STILL not thrilled about the Amex and the topic of conversation centred on the roadworks and the anticipated chaos that match days will bring. They believe that there will be extra trade at the pub but only from the hooligan element that can't get served at the Amex!! Not to worry, the landlord will be employing bouncers.
Having finished our meal we returned home. Listened to Brighton thrash Bristol Rovers. Cheered when little Cox scored and could hardly contain myself when the final whistle went at Peterborough. A very good day.
