Jail for breaking reporting restrictions...the information he read out had already been published in full by the local paper, how come the reporters there weren’t sent to jail?

The police had a choice whether or not to prosecute the well known right wing agitator, they chose to do it because they continually harass and persecute him. I’m not a big fan of Robinson but the message this sends out doesn’t inspire me with confidence that unpopular opinions are tolerated in the UK anymore.

A year for this is way OTT considering the pitiful non custodial sentences handed out for actual crimes, theft, assault, you know, crimes.

Does anyone actually know what was said before the youtube video he posted? Didn't the article say that he had been broadcasting for a couple of hours before the arrest. Without an in-depth knowledge of the facebook live broadcast it is hard to say if he was 'inciting' or not. assuming the police and courts have seen the footage they are probably in the best position to judge if he broke the law (again) or not.

It also appears that they chose to prosecute because he has a suspended sentence hanging over him for doing exactly the same thing.

I'm not sure the court would have had time. It only took 26 minutes to wheel him in, decide the evidence, sentence him, and wheel him out again.

It doesn't sound like much deliberation was going on.

This is apparently how you solve problems. If you don't think the same and have a different opinion, unfortunately you will be closed down. Stupid country. People might not support TR, but they are shocked by these actions.

Weren't you lot pleased that the BBC ran a story on Pork Pies as a small attempt at retribution?

The BBC received a number of complaints regarding the lack of time given to the Telford child abuse trial verdicts .

Their explanation was that due to the Death of Ken Dodd they had limited time available on the Day to report other matters .

If you read the short story the BBC ran on the day in March you will find you are wrong to state 'trial verdicts'. Not that truth matters. You should read ConservativeWoman more carefully before posting.

If Tommy Robinson's presence and 'reporting' is going to put the trial in jeopardy because the defence can suggest that the jury have been influenced then surely it is better that he (like other journalists) keep their distance and let the trial run.

It seems to me that some people put the right to free speech (and concocting conspiracy theories) above the rights of victims to get justice.

It is a funny old world.

some youtuber knowing half a story doesnt understand contempt of court. the police and courts have dealt with someone breaking the law. why question the government? you want the government to make a special exception? change to law so sensitive cases can be reported?
