[Albion] Davy Propper - is he the weak link?

A classy, graceful player.....but also a touch careless. He wouldn’t be first on my list for an upgrade, but maybe our coaches need to work on his game management / decision-making: 2-1 up in a tight game, having just taken the lead, with a couple of minutes until half time.....just keep it simple, please, Davy.

Best Dutch player since FDM, although given the players we’ve had that isn’t hard

I'm waiting for LamieRobertson to give his scintillating pundit style report on today's game.
If you've nothing to do tonight, it'll be worth waiting for

Propper isn't a weak link, but can have no complaints if he is dropped after Stephens ban.

The reason I say that is that 2 weeks ago, he gave away a goal playing a blind pass and this week he gave away a goal playing a blind pass. It's the lack of willingness to learn from his mistakes which is putting him in danger of being dropped and he had better hope, Mooy or Alzate or whoever is playing in for Dale against Palace doesn't make an irresistible case for retention

Well, I like him more than you, but he will be disappointed with his performance today. Gave the ball away too much. He's been very good of late though. You'll be more pleased to know that I had Stephens as PotS after about 8/10 games, but Ryan has comfortably overtaken him since. Gross had a poor one today. Mooy deservedly got MotM today (ditto Thursday), but he was run close by Maupay.

I was chatting with someone on the park n ride home, we agreed that Mooy and Maupay had an outstanding game. Maupay’s work was tireless, always alert to balls put through or over the top, and disrupting their playing it around at the back. Patricio having to resort to ‘pot luck’ long goal kicks for the entire second half.

As others have pointed out, the NSC vultures were circling around Maupay a week or two back. Sure, he went through a period when his finishing wasn't up to scratch but that happens with strikers.
His workrate and movement are way above average for a lower half PL team that has just turned 23 and is playing his first season in arguably the toughest league in the world.

No, no he’s not, Gross though..

Thought other than the goal, (which was a howler), he was much better than vs Arsenal and it was a great header for the goal.

Gross is an interesting one, in that we never look the same team without him - yet he does look off-form currently.

I can say hand on heart I was ‘loyal’ to Maupay throughout, I bet you were too? I’d seen enough with his outstanding PL performances, plus a vital goal or two. At last after 8 years at the Amex, we have a quality striker with genuine pace and an engine/effort to work for 90 minutes.

Other than Aguero, which striker doesn’t go through lean spells?

The vultures then moved on to Trossard.

You’ve got to laugh about it all!

This forum is genuinely Pathetic. Some unbelievable posts and threads today after a decent game and result against a well matched side.

Even Aguero is capable of some shocking misses, but name me a striker who isn't.

Personally I’d like to see a midfield “central” three of Gross, Stephens and Mooy.

.

Hopefully you never will. In the games where he has been deployed deeper Gross has failed to impress, as his lack of pace gets further exposed and his creativity is reduced.

Hypothetical if everyone is fit but I’d have a midfield three of Gross, Stephens and Mooy, with Trossard and Izquierdo on the wings and Maupay through the middle.

Just curious as to why you'd have Gross on this season's form, he's been totally pony and nowhere near the levels he showed on occasions last season.

In the position that Propper and Stephens there will always be a times when their mistakes cost us goals. I’m more concerned by the pass played by Webster to Propper today.

I think Propper is the most technically gifted player we have and will only get better, especially with the addition of a few goals.

This in ****ing massive spades . . . The pair of them get the defence and keeper out of jail at least ten times a game. Propper may not be an 11s 100m sprinter but cranially and technically he pisses all over most of today's opposition and his own team. His deft turns and slick little 1-2-3-4 passes buy time and space, numerous times, every single game. The fact he's managed to get forward enough to shoot and actually score is because he's not permanently sweeping up other people's shit this season.

I sometimes think I watch different games to some of our fans, yes Propper made a massive gaffe for the equaliser but I have no idea how anyone would consider him a weak link on his contributions this season. A Rolls Royce of a player imo growing into Potterball. A luxury player? Maybe but he has definitely upped the “getting stuck in” part of his game this season.
