Ah the classic he donated some money to a charity so he can’t possibly be a bad person defence.

Now, where have I heard that one before?
But the large donation to charity thing goes alongside a number of real life experiences of what a genuine and nice bloke he is.

but some people just want to believe the worst.

Still in Brighton
As for Walliams comments, it's obvious from his Little Britain comedy he has a dark and vicious sense of humour so calling a cute but dreadful old boy BGT contestant a c$£t is hardly a big surprise or shocker imho. Never really liked Walliams tbf but this is a non story.

That's not the bit of what he said that makes me think he might be a bit of a c*nt himself.
Not sure it warrants the level of media attention (unless there is more to it that we don't yet know about), but I guess that's the risk that comes with putting yourself in the limelight (for £££) as he does.

Walliams is one, from working in the industry, I’ve heard a lot of stories about. None are repeatable, but my impression of the man isn’t a positive one. The same names come up time and again in “whispers”, and Walliams is always one. I never believe everything I hear unconditionally; but in some cases I hear so many and from so many people it’s hard to keep an objective opinion.

Don’t know the man and never met him myself, I should add.
And herein surely lies the problem? Wasn't that the precise problem with Savile? Lots of chatter and nobody high up the food chain prepared to call him out?

I thought that was about a certain a standup comedian who went on to make a few movies in the US and married a big pop star (now divorced).
I was disappointed to find out he neither stole nor marked cattle. Trades description issue right there.

In fairness, that just proves bad news travels fast and gossip even faster. No one’s going DHL he’s a top bloke.
If you don’t hear anything, it’s good.

If you constantly hear from different unrelated sources, it’s bad.

Agree that I would always consider comments made in private very differently from something said publicly. But if someone said to me privately said what he is alleged to have said I would consider that person as a pretty nasty piece of work. I can't recall anyone that I choose to socialise with saying stuff like that. Not in the last 30 years at least.

There may of course be a context we don't know about, some kind of private in-joke with the person he was talking to. I haven't followed the story in detail.

But the point about timing and the Louis Theroux interview had also occurred to me. There may be something in that.
This isn’t about words. All will come to light. Eventually. Hopefully. One day.

The dull part of the south coast
He said "there’s good in everyone".

I've done bad stuff. Last night I lied to my daughter what time it was so she would go to bed early and I could watch the football uninterrupted. I wouldn't say I'm a bad person.
Perhaps you should have gone to bed early rather than watch the insomniac’s cure of a football match.

I’m afraid, in the age of social media, every unrelated source can be connected and gossip thrives regardless. Plenty of celebs have been unfairly trashed in the court of public opinion. I wouldn’t get involved in the nudge nudge wink winking until someone’s lawfully convicted. Just speculation until then at best, idle and highly damaging gossip at worst.

It turns out that someone we know has a very specific personal anecdote about this particular person o_O. However, there is a world of difference between extreme high-risk and selfish behaviour (much of which has been documented by said person himself) and illegality.
