He's a nut. Sort of player I can't stand on the opposition but I would love in an Albion shirt

Reckon this could mean Hendrie's not coming.

From what I've heard/ read it doesn't sound too likely that Hendrie will be coming. All this talk of massive wage reductions and so forth makes me think that he, and we, may look elsewhere. I wouldn't mind being proved wrong though.

Although I haven't seen Prutton play for a couple of years (apart from against us this year, which in a Colchester team is difficult to judge) I'd say he would be a decent signing. Ge was good for Soputhampton in the Premier League a few years back.

I reckon Crofts is committed to us. We can't afford Hendrie's wages.

big difference between not being able to afford and not willing to match his current wages. I'm very much in the second camp

Well yeah I kinda meant that. Our self-imposed budget means we won't go for him I reckons.

I'd take Prutton over Hendrie if we had to choose. Prutton still looks a decent player from what I've seen of him this season, came on for Leeds in the 3-0 at Withdean and set up the 3rd goal IIRC. Also scored a beauty for Col U, and was their only player who showed an ounce of creative ability in our 0-0 up there. He's a neat and tidy player who could improve our midfield, and at 28, can still get through 90 minutes unscathed - not overly convinced by Hendrie in this respect, shows real quality on the ball at times but seems lightweight and a bit off the pace towards the end of games.

Wouldn't be disappointed if we did sign Hendrie on a short-term deal, and reduced wages, but I feel we'd probably end up getting better value from signing a player like Prutton.

I agree.
