It does appear so Severnside, though I disagree with this consensus. You?

I suspect that within reason we can afford what we want to afford if it will bring us the right end result.

That can of course cause issues with agents pushing for more than our evaluation of their clients' worth and it does have to be moderated in relation to the earnings of others but if the player is right for us and the fee is equally affordable (using the same criteria) I don't believe it need ever be a deal breaker in itself.

I'm not convinced by the worth of David Nugent purely because I think his playing style accords more with our "Plan B" and he might not, therefore, be worth too substantial an investment. I think others (Burnley for example) might value him more highly than us.

He scored 35 in 93 for PNE in Championship and managed to con Pompey into spending £6m and £40k a week wages. He has done f*** all since leaving PNE and when we played Pompey last season Elphick and El-Abd had him in their pockets.. I dont think he is much better than Barnes IMO.. Crazy as that may sound!

good point, well made

Is this the Nugent of Pompey, previously associated with PNE and (Burnley?) Scottish ?

If so yes let's be having him, I thought that, over the last two seasons or so, he was more than impressive.

Capped by England - one game and one goal half a yard out stolen from Defoe, if I remember correctly.
