"The manager seems to think you're playing under too much pressure"

DJ: "Does he? Ok"

"When did you find out about the selection?"
DJ: "5 minutes before I got on the bus. Usual standard."

Am i reading into things too much or does he sound livid?

How about this ?

David James is a thoroughly decent bloke ( see his Portsmouth contract ). As a fully paid up member of the goalkeepers union, he's not best happy with the manner in which he's been brought into the starting line up. " There but for the grace of GOD go I " and all that. Also finding out about the change five minutes before getting on the coach doesn't help matters either.

Just a thought like.

P.S Personally I would have started the tournament with James and not Green anyway, but replacing the keeper like that is not good IMHO.

The quote was from last weekend and I'd imagine since James inclusion in the game was widely reported today, the situation has changed.

Nope, was last night right after the game:

BBC iPlayer - 606: 18/06/2010

22 mins 40 seconds

Having read that James had made a comment implying all is not well I thought i'd see if there was a thread on it.

Having searched for the interview i've now listened to it and decided this thread really needs bumping. I'm pretty sure most people would have been watching the TV or have turned off in disgust so won't have heard this.

Whatever anyone wants to say about James he always says what he thinks and, as far as he can possibly do in such an interview at this stage, he has properly SMASHED into Fabio and his way of doing things. There is a big problem in this camp I reckon, a BIG problem

It seems the England dream of WC glory, after qualifying so well, is imploding, rather than exploding.

That sounds livid to you? The first answer sounds very neutral, almost as if he is concerned the interviewer is trying to get him to say something particular, and not in a good way. The second answer seems pretty neutral too.

This is a nothing story. People just looking for excuses to blame Capello rather than players. Neil Warnock was 606 banging on about Redknapp but Warnock has always been anti foreign coaches for the England job. Claridge also came out for the players union blaming Capello rather than players inability to make simple passes and control a ball on the ground.

Interesting, he made similar comments last week.

is the full quote.

wow, yeah, what the hell are people are on about?

If anything that reads to me like someone giving a reporter the brush off.

It's interesting to see how the papers are now rounding on Capello. The team deserves criticism for the games they play but suddenly trying to find fault in something that has been standard in all of Capello's reign is ridiculous.

David James being to the point with a journalist is nothing new, well known that the entire squad don't like the media.
