How can anyone be so enthusiastic for a striker who has scored 4 league goals in 3 years? ???

Healy needs to kick start his career, to do that he needs someone who understands him and knows how to get the best out of him, such as Gus. If someone other than Gus was at the reins I would be much less enthusastic.

Like Kazenga Lualua?

Sorry, couldn't resist... :p

That is exactly why I can't make my mind up about him. The potential is massive but the current realisation of it is minimal. Ultimately it may come down to attitude and from what Gus has said he clearly has the confidence to get the most out of the lad should he come.

Healy would be a good addition to our squad and by stepping down to Division 1 he could kick start his career, by taking him on loan with the possibility of signing him in January could be very good for the club and him.

andy naylor confirms he is not coming

Ha ha

I'm not sure if that means a great deal.
On the rare occasions that Naylor actually "knows" something he seems at pains to sit on the fence until it becomes official just in case he never gets an inside track again. Most often he clearly knows nothing and is floundering round like the rest of us :lolol:

No, it's not a vendetta, it's an opinion. I don't think Crofts was any good and I still don't. He looks like he's doing a lot better than he is because he scores. That's it for me, his general play is actually very mediocre.

As for Barnes, I've never totally written him off. The problem is he just can't finish. If he could learn to do this he'd score goals, because he can get in the right place. Unfortunately a calm and skilled goalscorer would have scored 10 goals this season had they got in his positions. He has three.

Although I have slated you in the past, ironically I sort of totally agree with you on both Crofts AND Barnes.

I like Barnes, but my suspicion still remains that he may lack the quality we require going forward. Likewise, I always thought Crofts was overrated and I always thought he was incredibly limited on the ball.

Why can't you write more measured posts like this more often, rather than "Barnes had a holocaust" or "Crofts is absolutely diabolical and one of the worst players who has ever played for the club" (I'm paraphrasing)?!?

You clearly know about football.... you just choose to hide that from everyone by writing kneejerk, hyperbolic tabloid shit all the time instead. Strange.

Can we just talk about healy rather than give the complete knob -end the attenion he wants

Okay, where did Andy Naylor confirm that he's not coming? I doubt he'll be coming today, as Andy said only initial contact has been made with Sunderland.

How likely is it that David Healy will be coming to The Albion?

My understanding is that what can best be described as contact at a very low level was made with Sunderland, just to ascertain the situation with Healy. It has gone no further than that. I have reservations, bearing in mind his recent record, but I think we can trust Gus to make the right decision. Most of his decisions have been spot-on so far.

I'm sure I won't be the first to ask, but is there any news with David Healy, or any other potential striker arriving?

See above JC. Nothing on a striker at the moment. Fran Sandaza was due back in training today after missing the last two matches with a thigh injury.

To those saying that Crofts is better than Dicker/Sparrow/Kish because he is playing a division above, do you honestly believe that all of the wingers in The Championship are better than Bennett and Lua Lua and all of the full backs are better than Painter and Calderon?

For me, Sparrow just looks a much better version of Crofts. Crofts wouldn't get in this side, for me.

Brighton factually.....
he is holding out for the vacancy that is coming up in Manchester, which will free up a Mr W.Rooney to come to the Albion.

Based on ability, he would not get in, but I think Crofts would get in for being Crofts, though I agree that Sparrow looks like a better player and an extremely good signing from Gus!
