WHY????
So the guy suffers from an illness and for that reason he has to get another job. NO. He needs the help of friends within football. Yes, kick hell out of him on the pitch in the spirit of the game so to speak, but never ever tell him as you go in to a tackle "you should have carried out that suicide last week".

Exactly. There's no case to exclude people on the basis of mental health. It sounds like Cox has been open and honest about his struggles, and should be supported, or it will deter others from seeking help.

Not at all. I am questioning how he got into the argument in the first place and suggesting for him personally, he might be better off away from football.

You just don't understand this in any way, shape or form. You need educating.

David Cox has a right to do and be whatever he wants. Everyone has banter in football or any sport but for the fella to actually say that he should have done a better job when he tried to take his own life is, for me, beyond belief.

Get a grip CR, please.

Exactly this. Saying he should not play is akin to the argument that women should not go out alone in case they get attacked. Blame should go to the aggressor not the victim.

It is a subtle but relevant point here. Being a substitute for Albion Rovers is like being on the bench for a half decent county league side. He will be lucky to get boot money.

Let me repeat myself as everyone seems to want to take exception here. I am not in anyway condoning the behaviour of the people he got in an argument with. I hope that is clear enough.

You should try refereeing kids football .... it's brutal. kids and parents calling you a cheat, threats, abuse and very limited appreciation

Talking of which, at the request of my son, I ran a kids team here in Dubai. one of our under 14s looked about 17. The parents of one of the opposing teams lodged an official complaint that we were playing an overage player. Even when we produced his passport they refused to accept it and raised a subsequent complaint that he was too old mature for his age. The team were genuinely rattled by the continued complaints from the touch line. I gace up after that.
