The interesting thing about this is that before this I found him probably the most dislikable EPL ref and yet he’s probably turned out to be the most fragile and vulnerable.

Originally I thought he’d been stitched up by one grass who got lucky on an “afters”. Looks a lot more sinister now.

Absolutely no one to blame but himself.

Odd post. I'm wondering if you've misunderstood the point the poster was making. He was merely stating he hopes the guy is doing ok MH wise from this. We've seen some pretty horrible examples of people at the centre of a media storm not coping well in recent times

He's going to lose his job, will be hounded by the press and will surely be feeling pretty horrendous he's thrown away his career through some silly actions.

Not sure why someone hoping he is ok mentally, during what's going to be a really horrible time (whether that's self inflicted or not),is something to be picked up on.
No, I got it.

I'm merely pointing out that there might not be reason to be 'very concerned for his mental health right now' at all. The guy could've just facked up big time and now has to deal with the consequences.

People in all walks of life are dealing with all sorts of horrendous things of varying degrees (the Bobkin family included). Stuff that would render a story about a man slagging off another man, taking drugs and hanging out with hookers (all allegedly (possibly)) totally insignificant.

If he's got serious problems, that's another story and hopefully he'll get help. But it's equally just as likely that he's got too big for his boots.

We don’t know in this case do we but playing the MH card can turn disappointment and anger into sympathy and justification. Actions have consequences.
