Scored another TOP freekick last night. http://web.mlsnet.com/t106

He also created number two for LA against DC United with a slide rule pass that opened up the defence, and all this from a bloke who has barely played or trained for 6 weeks because of injury. He's f***ing class.

IMO, McClaren has lucked out here. He has to play him because Beckham has bailed him out of a tight spot, but luckily it is clear that Beckham's form hasn't deserted him and it's also lucky that MLS isn't nothing like as bad as McClaren must have feared.

Talking of Beckham, NY Red Bulls have sold over 60,000 for his visit this weekend - Red Bulls average gate is in the 13,000 range.

Come on Sim, you know the purists say you're not supposed to be interested in the MLS. It's NOT REAL FOOTBALL. Just a bunch of circus acts with big trousers, huge rubber feet and a unicycle eating nachos with cheese, and drinking gallons of Diet Coke..

But if he can bend in a free kick like that while wearing all that stuff, he MUST be a player.

That's right. Maybe those type of shoes offer better metatarsal protection than the Nike slipper design.

If the US team can become regulars in the World Cup (which they are) then you cannot ignore them. Beckham has made a shrewd move and he won't be the last.

Watching the 'highlights' from NYC a few weeks ago it looked more like 3,000, if that!
Metros have consistantly fiddled the attendance numbers but less so this season than ever before. Worth bearing in mind that the swamp holds 80,000 and the whole matchday experience is wank unless you're in the supporters club section.

Anyway, they'll fill the place when Red Bull Park gets built in time for the start of 2009.

the whole MLS fixture list has been fixed this season, all because beckham signed

Galaxy have had to play nearly all there home games before Beckham arrived, the remaining fixtures are now pretty much all away, so beckham is seen by more of america, rather than LA

if you watch the full highlights from the original link, the LA Galaxy keeper makes some fantastic saves !

This is true (actually LA Galaxy simply have many games in hand), but isn't that just sensible marketing for a start up league in a crowded sports market?

Compare that to the fuckwitts running cricket in this country.

If the US team can become regulars in the World Cup (which they are) then you cannot ignore them.

They only qualify because the process has been rigged by FIFA by giving CONCACAF more places in order to promote the game in North America. If Wales had this oppo. they would probably also qualify every World Cup. (Then again, maybe not).

USA 10 7 1 2 16 6 22
Mexico 10 7 1 2 22 9 22
Costa Rica 10 5 1 4 15 14 16
Trinidad & Tobago 10 4 1 5 10 15 13
Guatemala 10 3 2 5 16 18 11
Panama

And that group (for Germany '06) is about as hard as it's ever going to get for them. Having said that, they have given a very good account of themselves for the last 2 tournaments but personally I think they should combine the North and South America qualifying process.
