Whatever happened to the ex-Leeds 'hardman'?

He retired and does occasional charity bits.

I hear that when he goes out he gets half way up his street, decides not to venture into the final 3rd of his journey to the shops, looks for somebody to square it and goes back and does the same thing again and again until time is up and he has to get back for his tea.

No idea, but I read an interesting piece about Danny Wallace the other day. He has MS and very rarely leaves the house. He is incapable of kicking a football about with his youngest kid. :(

i saw him at the london marathon last year. really humbling. us moaning about what we were going to do and him just being grateful to have that chance. took him about six days to finish in the end. had a good chat with him about rod and ray and the game when all three played (has anyone done that since?)

Why ex Leeds, he had his best days at Newcastle?

David Batty was quite a rarity in the football world, he wasn't a football fan. He played because he was good at it, and it paid well, but he had absolutely no interest in the game. That's probably why he's never seen on telly. Supposedly he's big on motor biking.

I'd like to know why he's "hardman"? Of all the supposed tough guys of recent years i'd say he's the most deserving of the title.

...although the years have not been kind to him though... and he's grown a bit taller... but he does knows a fair bit about oriental porcelain!

I remember reading once that he said he can't even do keepie ups very well. Never practiced them and couldn't do any tricks.

Roy Keane was hardman man of the early naughties, and Stuart Pearce hard man of the 90's.

Keane's more dirty and voilent than hard, someone who was properly tough wouldn't do cowardly things like late tackles or throw his elbow around

That makes sense. He was an awful England player.
