Now the fixtures are out is it my pessimism or does the coming season look more scary than last time?
Well the squad doesn't exactly give us much hope, it's weaker than last time and looking at the fixtures and some of the players that have been signed by these clubs already it looks very daunting... I just hope we make some decent signings very soon to give us some hope.

Indeed, I will make a judgement on how I feel when we know what our squad will look like come the first game of the season.

Just waiting now to see what signings we see between now and the start of the season.

squads slightly weaker and the divison is much harder with teams like sunderland, west ham and leeds in there too. But we have the first div experience from last time to help us and also we have a good manager from the start of the season!

Our last 6 or 7 home games look very difficult. I just hope we have enough points in the bank beforehand.

Looks harder than last time around on paper.

Palace, Bradford, Wimbledon, Walsall, Pompey, Norwich, Grimsby replaced by
Plymouth, Wigan, QPR, Crewe, Sunderland, West Ham, Cardiff

Staying up will be just as big a problem as last time but maybe we'll be better equipped this time.

Hmm..we only took 11 points off those 'weak' teams last time around. Will we really do worse than that this time round?

i think we got 3 of the 6 teams we mcghee prob wanted to start the season with.
we always do well when we play reading
plymouth the same and they will still like us be adjusting
and coventry are not a good side away from home

should get at least 4 points

The thing about Division One this year is that there are so many unknown quantities. With West Brom, West Ham, and Sunderland last year, everyone knew they'd do well. Ditto Wigan and Cardiff with their money, no-one doubted they'd be up there.

The 3 relegation favourites all went down, Walsall, Bradford, and Wimbledon.

This year, Plymouth have a new manager and therefore might take a while to settle. Brighton are changed from the last outing and actually have some managerial stability. QPR look half decent. Leeds god knows, anywhere from top to bottom, ditto Leicester who are selling off players, and only Wolves look strong.

The rest of us are strong on our day, and last season will show you how many of us were within 3 points of 3rd place (7 clubs!)

Should be fun. :clap2:

I'm with Tinx, depends on who Mcgee gets in plus injuries. Will we get a full season out of Chippy will Rodger be a feature? Plus battle hardened players from the last failed Div 1 campaign my early prediction will be that it will go to the wire again.

I don't believe we are that much weaker in fact i think we will be stronger in most areas compared to the start of that season like goalkeepers, defence and forwards. Add in Blackwell & Rodger and I reckon we have as good a team as the one that almost avoided relegation from a near impossible position. All we need is probably a decent winger and a creative midfielder and we'll be ok.

We have a squad that has played in the 1st division before except Virgo and Harding.

Cullip, Jonah, Mayo, Chippy all managed ok and even Oatway had a couple of good games.
Knight and Iwelumo have played at this level and Butters is an old hand.

Our keepers are sound (remember the horrors of Petterson  )

I trust McGhee to get a couple of good loans in and we'll be fine.

We won't be giving everyone a 30 point head start.

Sorry to be pessimistic folks, but unless McGhee brings in 3-4 players (striker, winger and two midfielders) we haven't a hope in hell of staying up much as it pains me to say it.

I'm not worried about it. I think we have a better chance this time round because of the managerial stability and the momentum of coming up through the play-offs.

Of course we will. McGhee will get some excellent loans in.

We won't be giving the others a 30 point start this time.

Surely we will get more than 4 points in 14 games ?

Looks OK to me the fixture list - ever the confident Beach Hut
