Yep, thats conclusive. really gutted..........just watch him go on to be a top striker and sold on at huge profit.

playing in a Mickey Mouse league will make him look much better (like Edouard)

The antidote to this disappointment is a large dose of fellow Uruguayan Max Gomez from Valencia.

More likely we'll get a hugely watered down attenuated dose of Boulaye Dia and told to have a lie down.

It's not all doom and gloom - we've still got Gyokeres!

Google translation of article :

"After advances and setbacks, the novel is closed and Darwin Núnez will be a Benfica player. As far as Record was concerned, Rui Costa unlocked the deal in Spain and managed to sign the striker from Almería for 24 million euros. It is the most expensive transfer ever in the history of the Eagles and the Portuguese championship.

The player has already left the stage of the Spanish club and travels today to Lisbon, in order to carry out medical examinations and sign for the red club.
As our newspaper reported today, last-minute financial demands from the 21-year-old Uruguayan striker and his agents delayed completion of the transfer. However, from Lisbon, Luís Filipe Vieira gave the order to move forward and the SAD manager at Benfica closed the deal for good.

Therefore, Jorge Jesus will have another striker at his disposal, in view of the attack on the 3rd qualifying round of the Champions League."

I think we probably wrote this off weeks ago and have been busy chasing our next targets. It would be great if we could target strikers before they become the next big thing. The weakest aspect of recruitment is definitely strikers and has been a long time with rare successful acquisitions.

The timing of this breaking down isn't ideal. Sealing this deal would have given him a short time to isolate and integrate ahead of the season.

We know the club have stated they won't rush but this means we will almost certainly be going with what we have for the first few fixtures at least..
