out of interest , does anyone know the quality level of the Spanish 2nd division ?

Hows it compare to our championship ?

I guess its comparable......... for simple fact that Ulloa came and Hemed came when they were second tier and neither looked out of place in our championship team, Ulloa was class and obvs went onto PL. Almeria were play offs this season, so maybe could be compared to someone like Swansea, Cardiff, Forest level? Looks very good in vid reels and great age.I'd be delighted with this one (+ the free Andone transfer later in season)

Looking back to us losing 1-4 to Torquay United at Priestfield in 1998 (Rodney Jack starred from memory) I didn’t think I’d see the day where we financially out muscle Benfica!

could argue for every Ulloa there is a David Rodriguez who was also prolific but toilet for us.

I wasn't actaully talking about Nunez though. Looks a good fit , good age , capped Uruaguay.

More was if anyone had some good knowledge on Spanish 2nd div. The youtube clips show half decent stadiums so cant be completely shit.

Hopefully get this one as looks half decent and worth a punt

When you think about it that way, it is just crazy isn't it. A basket case with no ground and no money. If somebody said in 22 years you'll be established PL with a 31k stadium and will outbid Benfica for a Uruguay capped CF........ Well you'd probably try and perform an intervention to get them sectioned

The standard isn't bad overall. I find it hard to compare directly to the Championship as the style is different but I wouldn't say there's a huge gulf.

The fact that promoted teams often do ok in the Spanish top flight also gives am indication of the second tier's quality. Last year's top 2, Osasuna and Granada, finished 10th and 7th, respectively in the first division. And that's without the financial windfall bestowed upon clubs promoted to the PL from the Championship. Upon getting promoted, Granada spent about 8 million euros, Osasuna just 4 million.

What is that account tweeting that? just another random.

Not sure I believe that tbh, haven't once seen there name mentioned before.

After Barndoor Benteke and Flop Tosun is this Palace new Forwards transfer policy.

Just copy Brighton

As an aside, I remember when Reading went through that phase. Anyone who was decent for us, they went after (Coppell, Sidwell, Ingimarsson). Infuriating.

And still one of the reasons I despise them.

So palace come in with a bid significantly lower than ours or Benficas. How's that gonna work out then?

It doesn’t.

Prince Charming doesn’t want a bid to be accepted, that’s why they always bid low, these days.
See Eze from QPR, Palace hierarchy don’t want to pay out money they haven’t got, but they need to be seen to be trying to get good players by their support, so, they underbid, and are beaten in every contested transfer, and can tell the great unwashed “look, we are trying, it’s just other clubs are throwing money around “
Every recent window has been the same for them, and they end up with a couple of mediocre loans, and the dross no one else wants on ridiculous wages.
