Apparently we have taken the former Southend keeper on a two week trial and he is expected to play against Arundel.

That sounds about right to me as back-up for FDM, as the money Roberts would be on would be too much for a guy to sit on the bench picking splinters. And Beasant is clearly after a guarantee of 1st team football, which we just can't offer him.

We were going to sign him if Peter Taylor stayed last summer.

Think he won player of the season at Southend a couple of summers ago so would be a good back-up for FDM.

Surely if Roberts wa ssigned by us he'd be number one keeper. He was as good as FDM at least, only problem was he wa sa bit small.

This guy sounds about spot on if you ask me. cheap wages as well which is always a positve at the moment

I'm assuming he was out of contract and is looking around at bettering himself.

Wasn't he the keeper when we played them on the opening day of our first championship season. As I recall, he didn't have much to do that day.

That's him.
25 years old, been pretty much ever present at Southend. Officially, he was "released" at the end of last season, but I'd guess he just feels he can play above Div 3.

Sounds just the job for me.

Sorry Big Dave, I think you are looking for another club.

who died ???????

Aaron Flahavan, the Pompey keeper at the time. His car hit a tree on the drive home, and the post-mortem showed he was some way over the limit at the time.

Tragic, he was only about 28 at the time. happened a couple of years ago.

Darryl is his younger brother.

Gritt23, where did you find out he was on trial with us?

Does sound promising - more long-term prospect than Big Dave, methinks

Incredibly it is now on the official site, but obviously that was not where I first heard it.

It was on Teamtalk about mid-morning.
