Is this a bad shout with his lack of pace ? Could he be creative bloke we still require ?

Just think if he's brought in for RW then he'll have to settle for a place on the bench.

I think in a competive squad, just about all of the players will be considered at times for more than one position. I think Currie, to take your example, will feature at both CM and RM over the course of the season, but will not be first choice for either.

With his crossing abilities he would be better on the wing and maybe pushing Cox into the middle. Although Chamberlain looked useful there on Saturday, much more composed that Fraser

i dont actually know what our midfield is going to be at the mo. Im guessing that it will be Cox Thomson Livermore Mcleod.

Where Currie fits in i have no idea

I also think this is our likely midfield as well.
Just slight concern about Thomson + Livermore being similar players (only what I've read about Livermore though)

I think Currie's too slow to play in central midfield. Too often you'd see him lagging around the middle of the pitch not doing a lot before spraying a 40 yard cross-field pass that gets the crowd drooling causing them to forget for the last 10 minutes he's left Thomson/Livermore chasing shadows.

Where would Virgo fit into the team as a regular position. I can't see him agreeing to sign just to be a bench warmer.

I doubt very much that any player joins a new club thinking they are not going to play regularly. Whether that is the case, though, will depend on his form and fitness, and that of the others in his position.

Hence why I think there is a strong possibility we will play 5 at the back.

It's definitely a possibility, but if it were the preferred system, I'd think we'd be practising it in the friendlies?

As I said to somebody on another thread, I would not read too much into who and how we play until the Charlton game.

I just think the squad is top heavy on centre backs and Adams has in the past been a fan of 3 centre backs.

The alternative maybe that one of the young centre backs is being sold.

I'm sure I may not be the only one to think this, but I think that Cox will struggle to get into the team once Currie arrives.

His performances over the second half of last season were inconsistent and I wouldn't be surprised if he left on a transfer.

Again, looking for clues from the freindlies, we've played both Elphick and Lynch, and would we risk an injury to a player for whom a deal was in the offing? Just guessing, right enough...

once Darren Currie arrives, then there will be alot of competition for other midfielders, with Cox in mind.

I think it'll be Thomson to make way, personally. He isn't exceptional and he wasn't Adams signing - perhaps he will have to make way.

I Will take skill before pace anytime, Darren is able to provide, and that is what we need. If any of you ever saw Neil McNab, then you will know what I mean.

But when Thomson came to us he had been scoring a few goals for Falkirk up in Scotland. Perhaps with Livermore doing the hard graft in midfield Thomson could get forward more and we may see a different side to him.
How about having Currie sitting behind the front two, pulling the strings there?

There's far more to Currie's game than putting in good crosses.

Just because he has little pace does not mean he can't run. Depending on what Micky's got in mind for the team formation this season, putting Currie in the middle, possibly just behind the forwards - in the kind of role Cox occasionally played in last season - could work out well.
