Why? I think he's an excellent crosser of the ball and judging by some of the balls he's put into the box (including the one yesterday that Hammond nearly got a touch on) I cannot see that I am far wrong.

I agree with you, he is an excellent crosser of the ball. People have to remember that he is not in there for his defensive qualities.

I am sure when we have a few bad results people will get on his back again, claim he is a luxury and want some headless chicken in the Oatway mould back in the team, as that sort of player gets stuck in.

Currie was RUBBISH.
Can someone remind me how many goals did we score from his crosses yesterday ? He got ONE decent ball in, and that was just lucky as he mis-hit it completely. It just so happened that it nearly went in at the far post, but it wasn't what he'd meant.

And everyone raves about Curries corner against Preston that we scored from. Well we were dead lucky that the ref didn't blow for a foul on their keeper, and even then it was one of THEIR players who put it in the net, none of ours were anywhere near it. So how does that make it a good corner ?

You all need to take off your rose tinted specs.

I liked the way that although he is not blessed with pace he still made time for himeself on the ball, looked to pass to a striped shirt, and rarely gave the ball away.

It's a shame that Reid is so out of favour, as that would make two players looking to retain possession.

Having said that, I thought we passed the ball around well on Monday, especially first half.

having only seen him against plymouth and wigan..........i thought he was a waste of space and offering less than mayo out wide,.but i thought he showed true potential against the cheese and onion.an impressive performance.

but realistically for true vision and a football brain above his peers, the pure ability to deliver the killer ball............look no further than TEDDY MAYBANK a craftsman among artisans.mullerys greatest signing-and his reluctance to play maybank and mellor in the soft pitch winter slog,he lacked the guts to drop ward(who hated and couldn't cope with mud),his greatest managerial flaw.

They go in like WHOOOOOSSSSSSSSHHHHH!!

The cross that nearly got us a goal from the free kick out wide in the first half was as good as anything I've seen Beckham do, it had loads of curl and dip on it. Marvellous scenes. In my time watching the mighty stripes I can't think of a player better at crossing the ball than Darren Currie, he really is starting to look like an excellent signing.

ps Safeway reckons Paul Watson is better but I think that he was talking SMACK.

Blimey, that makes me agreeing with Safeway. The Div 3 and 2 Championship years Watto's crossing was absolute superb. Pace, swerving, and perfectly positioned. Someof them looked virtually impossible to defend as any touch from defender or forward put it in, and if everyone missed it they would sneak in the back post.

Okay, he suddenly turned completely pants once we'd won the second promotion, but previously he was absolutely mustard.

Currie has looked good, but if has a long way to go yet. Doing it for 3 or 4 games is not enough.

Don't worry, he'll be doing it for the rest of the season as well. Watto is not in the same class as Currie IMHO.

Best crosser of the ball I ever saw for us was Clive Walker. He also had tremendous skill too. Closely followed by Steve Penney. I like what I see in Currie but Walker was fitter at 35 than Currie is at 29, but we have to give him time.

if the pitch had been in a different place Peter Smith's crosses would have been better than anyones!

Clive Walker was absolute shite - all his crosses went along the floor to the first defender, he was the most frustrating player we had at the time.

Currie = quality

Having not seen Currie, I would say Watto & Wilkins are the best two crossers I've seen for the Albion. Wilkins took the best corner I've seen - far better that Watto, but Watto's inswinging free-kicks were fantastic too
