I too had a Critical Mass on Xmas Eve, in fact it was the last drink I had. I didn't know anything about it, just picked it for the name, and it wasn't until I was paying for it that the barman mentioned the alcohol content. I slept pretty well that night.

They do a beer sometimes called Brewers reserve, it's like Sunburst with a hint of ginger

It is named after Dark Star a song by the popular beat combo The Grateful Dead.

Rob Jones, creator of the Dark Star brewery is a confirmed 'Deadhead'

Anything brewed by dark Sar is worth a go. Critical mass is another quality brew. i didn't know the alcohol content either but, from the 1st sip, it was clearly something special.

I had a few of APA then a few of Winter Solstice on friday night. Then had to walk the mile home on the ice holding up an equally tipsy wife.
It is great beer IMO.

Last night I had a pint of Harveys. (it was that or Guiness) I have heard on here that some people love it. Oh well, each to their own I say.

Same. Or at a stretch a single pint. Has to be said that the 'sweet and sickly' thing is about the only thing that saves us from ourselves

Agreed.

Quick question as a lapsed real ale drinker (I stretch to Harveys usually) where in town can I get either 6X, Tanglefoot or Summer lightning? My 3 fave real ales, they are.
