A big strong target man who scores goals at this level to a much better rate than your Sam Vokes and Billy Painters of this world. A guy with premiership expiereince who is by no means past it at 30 on the back of a 15 goal return with a poor Millwall team and In my opinion would proberly be affordable, YES PLEASE!

I'm not sure what people are expecting, is this Owen and Heskey stuff actually in people's heads for real and it's made people think we can get anyone we want, 15 goals last term speaks for itself doesnt it.

The only concern I would have and this will be the case with any striker that we sign is that, would our style suit him, were hardly a lob it in the box kind of team....sometimes I wish we were more that way on occassion but down to scoring potential alone, i'd take him like a shot.

I think we'd still be one short up top and would like a player of the Adam Le Fondre, Simeon Jackson, Simon Cox ilk to come in aswell to be fair.

Good post.

I imagine we haven't been that type of team because we simply don't have the kind of player to make it work. We won't turn into cloggers overnight but someone like Henderson would certainly give us more options upfront in terms of style. It'd also be nice to have someone who looks like scoring a header from a corner!

In a pile of football shirts
Join the queue of those who said Crofts wouldn't get a chance in the Championship with Norwich, or Bennett wouldn't get a chance in the Premier League, they both did, and will continue to do so it would appear. There are plenty of 'not good enough' players who have gone on and proved they have something to offer at the highest level. Barnard has over a year left on his contract, I'd suggest wild horses wouldn't tempt him away from Southampton while there is a chance he could play at that level, the likes of CPFC or anyone else in a lower league are not going to tempt him.

Then again, if I am wrong, I'll accept it gracefully, but why not wait and see eh?

Do you or indeed him honestly think he will be in the line up for that match and it is also rumoured that CPFC are after him at £800k.

He was awful on loan to us, but that was a long, long time ago and he has obviously improved... seems like a good option for the 'striker with presence' role to me...

This.

I would quite like to have him as a squad player to bring on as a sub if needed but I'd still have CMS starting games infront of him (and b4 anyone says play them both together, I can't c us playin 2 upfront)
