Presumably why Wellbeck had his contract cancelled before the window closed.

Exactly, he'd either have had to wait until January or join a club in a country where their transfer window was still open when his contract was terminated had it been done after the closure of the English transfer window.

Surely Welbeck is the only free agent we’d be interested in.

He must be losing a minimum of £40k per week without a job so I suspect he’ll want to get a deal sorted ASAP. I’d like this thread concluded by the end of the weekend with Welbeck signing for whatever club but hopefully ours.

It’s just speculation based on Skybet cutting him to 1/10 to sign for us.
