When was the last time a player in the Premier League accepted a "pay as you play" deal?

Seems ludicrous to suggest he would agree to such a thing.

Seems ludicrous to suggest that we should be considering a player that needs such a deal. Or if we're going to go down that route, might as well go the whole hog and sign Andy Carroll

Rumours he wants £100k a week basic and £5m signing on fee, which given his injury record is putting clubs like us off.
Tricky if we have any 'must be highest earner'-s on the books.

Oh, is Dunk off ? ???

He may be the first for a while.

Both in Östersund (Jamie Hopcutt) and Swansea (Courtney Baker-Richardson) Potter liked to have a pacy striker on the bench to be able to change the games and to have a counter threat if they were in the lead getting pushed back or similar. Welbeck fits the style, but feels like he is too expensive plus done sitting on the bench.

A pacy player who likes sitting, you say...?

From what he has shown us pre season it could be said that Locadia fits that remit too, certainly pacy and hopefully knows where the goal is too.

Doubt it. If I remember it right Samir Nasri was on a pay-as-you-play for Wham this spring.

If he doesn't lower his wage demands who would take him on? He should be wanting to prove himself not price himself out of the market.

It will be interesting to see where all 3 English crocks end up this summer, Sturridge, Welbs and Carroll. Villa been linked with all 3 but can only see them signing one, probably Sturridge. Looks at though moment though that they're all asking too much monet given how little football they've played between them in the past 2/3 seasons. Could all be still out of contract come PL gameday 1 next weekend.

The two Danny's can join their mate Jack Wils at West Ham.

If it’s only out of the England crocks trio, then yes. Seems to have the best attitude and will thrive on one touch football. Has strength and good movement too.

Could we attract a better striker elsewhere? Probably not. So it comes down to Wages, fitness and attitude. There was talk that he wanted £5m signing on fee and £100k a week. If that is the case its over before it starts, but would be he worth £2/3m fee and £50k a week? Assuming his fitness is there clearly he would. It's only a couple of seasons ago he was an England player and he is only 28

I'd say its worth a chat his demands would decide how long that chat lasted.

Have him, with a couple of caveats in his contract.

No 'I'm Billy BigBalls', pay per play and 2 visits to the physio in 6 months and you're out.

Shame that he is a free agent. In effect, he needn’t lower his ludicrous demands as he can sign for a team anytime. Come October when the likes of Villa/Blades/S’ampton discover that they can’t score goals, he’ll have his pick at sky high costs.
