Brighton factually.....
It happened once, apparently.

Lewis Dunk once handed in a transfer request and refused to play , but his career with us has done ok ?
Not the same and deep down you know that, Maupay is a passionate person, and wanted to be the main man here, this probably caused friction, that Potter would not have wanted in the camp.
remember Potter would have been consulted about a possible move, and I’m 99% certain gave his blessing.

Selling Maupay looking every bit of a mistake as letting Murray go to Palace
I think we assumed that Maupay would be replaced by someone better, not the untried and very average Undav, but a proper experienced striker. Sadly that wasn't to be the case and now we are stuck with a striker who is out of form and probably needs a couple of games out of the firing line, one who looks a bit out of his depth and a kid.

Point still stands in both cases the club let our main striker and reliable source of goals go with a risky unproven replacement/s.

Danny off his game. Undav the unliked. Neal left. Maybe we can try a new supporter upfront each week? Clearly we cannot afford a striker with enough proven PL quality or we’d have done so by now. What’s the solution? Answers on a postcard to Uncle Tony c/o Amex Stadium

Play Ferguson so we continue with a big target man and we will see whether he is as good as people think ( i have confidence in him) , if not we will have to get someone in as Unav is looking anonymous. With that said the more obvious move would be to play Trossard up front rather than on the wing where he cannot influence play as much

Danny was one of the best players tonight and it annoys me hearing so many ppl having a go at him, Why? He makes space but his team mates dont use him as much as they could. He drags defenders outta the way for others to get shots in. We did not not win because of SW or SM for that matter. Personally I think the approach tactics were wrong and we were but unlucky and lacked the cutting edge I swear if we had scored an early go we wouldve gone on to score another 5, 6, 7,8, 9 Forest were the worst team ive seen at the Amex for many years worse than Watford.

Ferguson hasn’t yet featured in the match day squad under Roberto

I like DW, & think his general play has been good this season. He creates space for others and his hold up play brings Trossard/Gross/March into the attacks BUT it does get to the point where you striker has to score some goals. I would like to have Ferguson on the bench as a last 15 option when Danny is tired.

plenty of money to buy a replacement surely, we mustve pocketed enough for a top striker - where has the money gone?

does he have to score? would you say a keeper has to keep clean sheets? its a team game and DW brings others into the game but i dont think others bring him in as much as they could. I could not acre less if he NEEVR scores again, its he team that Im concerned about the blend the approach to games tactics etc, so i agree with all you say except he has to score.

Maupay suddenly becoming the answer now he’s left…….

Poor finisher. Best work outside the area.

Apparently not rated by Potter (based on selections).

All very well saying this but he’s here to score goals and it’s beginning to feel like we’re paying millions for a chauffeur yet to pass his driving test. Lovely fella, mind…

He has led the line really well but feck me he is in Barn Door Billy form in front of goal. His touch when put clear through in the first half was League One quality and his headers are classic 50p head quality.

I know some frown on any criticism but with just a bit more composure he could have got us 4 to 5 more points in the last three games

I thought Welbeck was dreadful last night, a shadow of his usual self. There didn’t seem the same energy levels from him, and he was nowhere to be found when our decent deliveries came in.

I’m very much pro-Welbeck in general terms, but didn’t feel that last night was him at his best. Unfortunately it coincided with Tross also going missing in the 2nd half, and leaving us looking pretty toothless. Hopefully a one-off blip rather than a long term drop in form, and he’s back to his best for the next game.

Although he hasn’t scored this season, he’s been pivotal in creating space for others to score from.

But still our top PL scorer every season

I can’t think of any top half PL team in our kind of position that would willingly sell their top scorer and fail to proper replace them.
