There's something smells a bit funny about this whole thing. Danny C is 31, and one of the few recent GENUINE Albion legends. And he goes straight from Gillingham's team of non-league players, to the deliberately-weakened Lewes team, without touching the sides? Nah, sorry, something not quite right there. We got Mayo in for training yet show no interest in Danny C? ???

Something is completely right about this transfer. We have 49 million centre backs and Danny Cullip has absolutely no pace and has lost any defensive ability he once had.

God what a dark day for football. A player can go straight from League One first team footballer to non league football at just 31. This man's confidence levels must have hit an all time low. I hope Lewes don't get their hopes up on Cullip, he is clearly a broken man.

Brilliant signing for Lewes, Cullip will shine at this level, he will get the defense organised and read the game well. I hope Kevin can get his other two players (imagine Kerry in midfield) and Lewes can make a real go of it.

Lets hope he is fit for September 27th at home to Oxford.

If i remember corrected he played very well for SU against Arsenal ( in the cup ?)and kept tabs on Berkamp not so long ago, or are the years passing quicker than i thought and i had rose tinted glasses on :D

I thought he played well for SU, but did'nt he (alledegly) have a swing at Warnock in the dressing rooms, so was shipped out prematurly. Not many of us keep our jobs after doing that.

It is sad really because he was, when he came to us, a rock for us to build on but then moved on to better things, so he thought, but none of them ever came off. As a Div 1 and 2 player he was good but was exposed as not being good enough, very early when we were in the Championship. When he arrived everybody said Danny Who as they did Oatway, Carpenter, Brooker etc, but as a team they jelled together. He will probably do the same for Lewes as he did for us and good luck to him but that is now his level not FL, possibly Div 2 but definitely not any higher.

Not necessarily sad at all. We don't know what his circumstances are. He will only be part time with Lewes and only earning a fraction of what he would get with a league club, but presumably he has something lined up for when his football career end, so perhaps he wants to move to that stage in his life rather than moving to the other end of the country to play in the reserves of a Div 1 or 2 team for a couple of seasons.

Mainly because Cullip isn't anywhere good enough anymore?

He certainly was all those years ago. But now, in reality for him, it's either some random league 2 side or a part time playing role at a Conference outfit on his doorstep.

Sounds like a great move for him to be honest. He gets the chance to re-train into a new career while playing part time football at a high-ish level to pay the bills. And Albion fans wanting to pay homage can pop along to Lewes whenever Albion are away from home. Everyone's a winner.
