According to today’s Argus we haven’t actually made bids for any players at all as yet, so we need to start before we can move on [emoji2]
The argus says we haven't made bids for Clarke, Bogle and Wilson. Not "any players at all".

I remember the NSC-Love-In for Huddersfield a few summers ago as they did their business nice and early in preparation for their first Premier League season. It turns out that the players we were enviously seeing them capture weren’t all that!

Let’s keep our powder dry and have a little patience. We’ve got over 2 months to go.

It’s only 3/4 players we need, hopefully they’ll be top drawers.
The International transfer window isn't open until the 2nd week of June anyway.

Domestic transfers only for now.

I think this is true. I am more interested to see if he can get Locadia, and Ali J to play better, and get Bissouma to make the right decision more often.

i would also like Propper to play just behind the striker, see if he can play that position in the Prem.

I'm not saying that the team is in the same situation as 2 years ago but the window being shut didn't restrict them signing Pascal Groß. For example.

I think there is semantics at work with the word ‘bid’.

We could very well be in deep discussions with Liverpool, Portsmouth & Derby over these players with ball park figures agreed but not confirmed. Transfers are complicated and can take time.

That’s how I read it ... only specific to those 3 ... doesn’t mean we haven’t bid for anyone

With the modern world I imagine that it would have got out if we’d made bids, even as just a rumour. Maybe we have made bids for Daniel James and Nicolas Pepe then

Possibly .... although recently we’ve been pretty good at keeping things under wraps for a lot of transfers... most have only really come out when a fee has already been agreed and the players is on his way. Can’t remember too many transfers which have been played out in the press

Nearly all have been rumoured, at least on here, before they actually happened though, no?

Have they ?

Can’t remember seeing many until we were a bit further down the line, at least bids accepted and leaked in foreign press, Jose’s dinner out with Winstanley or of course tracking Ali J’s flight. I might be wrong of course but from my recent memory although they’ve always appeared on NSC first it’s normally pretty close to a done deal.

However there are so many rumours these days I can always remember when they started and I don’t pay attention as much

True. Just means the paperwork can't be processed at the FA for a couple of weeks.

This is about the upshot so far.
Twitter nonsense already clearly nonsense : That fella making stuff up about Daniel James , that other Twitter account with 20K followers (but still nonsense) saying Clarke was having a medical in Lancing (on Tuesday).

Some actual outlets who do reporting...

Sky "understood [if they sign Matt Clarke] they will still fight to keep hold of their current centre-back pairing of Lewis Dunk and Shane Duffy amid reported interest from other Premier League sides.

Argus - Matt Clarke - Tuesday "No offer has gone in"
Argus - Propper/Ajax have "discussed a bid" - Wednesday -
Friday - Bogle, Wilson, Clarke, McBurnie, - "A well-placed source [probably Barber] has told The Argus there is “nothing doing right now” on any of those reported targets."

and er, thats it.

McBurnie is not in the "nothing doing right now" list in that article, and he is mentioned subsequently.

These aren't the players you're looking for.

He did for Holland, I watched the game.

That was one game, because of injuries to other players. Despite scoring a couple of goals against abysmal opposition , the Dutch opted to never play him there again. Doesn't that tell you something? He's not creative enough to play as a number 10.

He's a steady centre midfielder, who can receive and recycle. He's not an attacker and he is definitely not a defensive midfielder.
