Personally I hated him all the time he played for us. Chickenshit, scampered alongside the play without ever putting in any kind of meaningful challenge on his man ever. If he wasn't left footed, he'd have been hard pushed to make the Lewes side. Highlight/lowlight was when Akinbadbuy swatted him aside like a mildly annoying fly to score the winner against us in his last season here. Weird old time when Masonic dirty doings led to ludicrous-if-Albion-profitable stuff like Harding getting an Under-21 cap and Virgo getting flogged to Celtic for 1.5 million quid. Strange days indeed.

For some reason that really made me LOL :lolol:

Can someone please remind me why we're supposed to "hate" him? I seem to remember him stalling on a contract, but I've forgotten the details.

Anyway, the abuse he got at Leeds in the 3-3 game a few years back was unbelievable, but it was subdued against Southend last season.

Do people still dislike him? Is he going to get booed tomorrow?

I dont hate him. Brighton offered him £400 a week while Leeds offered him over a grand. He wanted to stay here and many times asked Brighton to up there offer. We didn't so he left. Can't really blame him for that. £400 a week was and still is a shit wage for a player that was a 1st teamer and had been capped for the U21's.

With respect, why start talking about what you think we offered him? I thoroughly doubt a first team regular was offered such a low amount, but none of us know how much he was offered and the whole obsession with speculating seems completely pointless to me, but carry on if you think it relevant in some way.

I've never understood the hatred, noone seemed to rate him when he was here so why moan that we got MASSIVELY more than he was worth when he buggered off to Leeds? Besides, it meant we got the Ginger Prince back in the starting 11.

Only passing on what he told me.

Harding was pissed off because he was offered less than what Mayo was on, despite being ahead of him in the team. When Leeds came in and promised a sizeable weekly wage he was hardly going to say no, was he?

Still, I hope he gets boo'ed if it means he plays shit. Same for Hammond.

It's interesting that the most "hated" players always seem to be home produced. Indicates some sort of inferiority complex - how can any local player be good, lets sign a dedicated athlete like Navarro he used to be on Liverpool's books.

I disliked the blonde ponse. Shit player for us; highly over rated. Lets boo him all we can, he was a confidence player and if we get on his back, bennett will piss all over him.

I have said on other threads that people on here talk absolute rubbish about the wages offered to players, a lot of posters on here earn more than our first team players. I once took a player to BHA and they offered him a contract on less than he earned painting Woolworths shop fronts. I know of another who was offered less than he earned as a parcel force driver and stayed with parcel force and played part time for St Albans

£400 quid a week I'm sorry but he is telling you porky pies, there is no way that any England U21 player or championship player would be on 20k per year.

We should have re-signed Harding pre-season, if he's so shit how come he is 1st choice for a team doing far better than us?

Did he? All I remember of him is the fact that I have never EVER seen someone so BAD at heading the ball. Pretty sure he played left back.

I remember him practicing heaging before the away game in the cup at Kingstonian and being amazed that a pro could be so scared of a football.

From what I remember, Dan Harding was never that great when he was with us. I for one was quite pleased to see the back of him.

Apart from the contract stalling, Harding used to convey an impression that he was too good to play for us. Less scampering, more posing around the left quadrant, kept his shorts Wilkins clean and never let an effective tackle spoil his overall, nose in the air, demeanor.

Harding became a brilliant left back as soon as he didn't have Cullip shouting in his ear every time he made a mistake.
