Can someone please remind me why we're supposed to "hate" him? I seem to remember him stalling on a contract, but I've forgotten the details.

Anyway, the abuse he got at Leeds in the 3-3 game a few years back was unbelievable, but it was subdued against Southend last season.

Do people still dislike him? Is he going to get booed tomorrow?

From what I remember he completely misled the club as to whether he was going to sign the contract? Memory may fail me but he stalled and Leeds tried to poach him on the cheap (luckily the tribunal ensured they failed miserably!).

The story at the time was that he'd verbally agreed with Dick Knight that he's sign a contract but kept stalling, then one day turned around and announced he'd signed for Leeds instead.

just a bloke who wanted to better his career and improve his lifestyle , cant see owt wrong with that, im sure he will realise the error of his ways the 3rd time muzza skins him for his hatrick

I don't hate him . . . . just don't rate him.
Used to think he was pretty good at letting the opposition get past and score! Particularly good at not tackling.

Bennett will have a fun afternoon and give Harding a torrid time . . .

Didn't someone else do that but go to chesterfield instead?

Very true. I lost count of the number of goals he cost us in the year before he left.

Personally I hated him all the time he played for us. Chickenshit, scampered alongside the play without ever putting in any kind of meaningful challenge on his man ever. If he wasn't left footed, he'd have been hard pushed to make the Lewes side. Highlight/lowlight was when Akinbadbuy swatted him aside like a mildly annoying fly to score the winner against us in his last season here. Weird old time when Masonic dirty doings led to ludicrous-if-Albion-profitable stuff like Harding getting an Under-21 cap and Virgo getting flogged to Celtic for 1.5 million quid. Strange days indeed.
